Overcoming challenges to deliver results

Marcus is our Next Generation Products Capability Manager in London. Not only does he make sure our vapour products can be produced at mass volume, he also uses his engineering experience to ensure we provide our consumers with products of the highest quality: “My role involves talking with the R&D teams to make sure they hit the standards and performance specs. Using my experience of mass manufacturing, I try to understand why things might not go according to plan and see how to correct them, then help the teams produce products at speed without sacrificing quality.”

Drawing on experience from working at one of the UK’s biggest tech companies for over 15 years, he knows what’s necessary for us to succeed in our transformation: “It’s all about having technology to last the next five years. That starts with tech-focused people.”

And Marcus is encouraged by the fact we share the same vision across the business: “When I joined, I thought there would be a lot of old school people who didn't want to change – it's the complete opposite to that here. The ambition for NGP from graduate level all the way up to CEO is massive. The people have a can-do attitude. For me, they don't have to be the world's best engineer. They need to have a clear understanding of how a product works and what our core values are, but attitude is key. Ultimately, we need to hit the ground running on all these projects by gaining talented people who have a start-up mentality.”
