BAT UK IS LOOKING FOR A CORPORATE FINANCE MANAGER – NEW CATEGORIES CORPORATE FINANCE

SENIORITY LEVEL: Middle Management Level

FUNCTION: Finance

LOCATION: London

 

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

This role is part of New Categories Corporate Finance.

The role is required take the lead in financial control and reporting for New Category (“NC”) corporate entities to  Nicoventures Holdings Limited the Groups primary NC holding entity, BTomorrow Ventures Limited the Groups CVC, Nicoventures Communication Switzerland AG the Corporate entity housing the McLaren F1 Partnership and two others.  The role will require an individual to take the lead in driving and implementing new accounting, reporting and control processes.

Reports to: Head of Finance

Reporting Level: Standalone position

Geographic Scope: Global

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Monthly reporting and control of statutory accounts in BPC, full pack reporting at fast close and year end and production of reporting schedule evidence that accurately ties and supports entries to Group reported numbers across all entities;
  • Production of the annual statutory accounts for all entities in line with local GAAP requirements (one entity in line with Swiss filing requirements);
  • Working in alignment with external auditors to conclude annual audit and file accounts to time;
  • Preparation and review of impairment exercises with respect to Company investments in group subsidiaries and also with respect to other investments held at fair value;
  • Input into forecast for centre profit centres within entities managed in line with Group reporting deadlines;
  • Preparation of fair value accounting for the CVC and working alongside group team to ensure SOx compliant processing of these values;
  • To gain a detailed understanding of in the following specific areas of accounting – associates and join ventures and IFRS 9 including the differing requirements between local GAAP and Group;
  • Full review of accounts payable/receivable and intercompany positions to ensure no mismatches
  • Managing statutory recharge process to ensure entities report the correct statutory level profit e.g. trademarks;
  • Completion of statutory returns such as ONS to time and accurately;
  • Ensuring entity compliance to control navigator;
  • Preparation of board notes and input into financial accounting implication of such notes; and
  • Other ad-hoc as requested by HOF

 

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Degree educated with professional accountancy qualification (i.e. CA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • A good understanding of group and corporate finance principles/experience and ability to deliver commercial insights in a rapidly evolving area of the business.
  • Appreciation of taxation consequences as part of financial reporting would be useful.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of data and present in a simple, innovative and impactful way using all current systems to simplify and automate information management. i.e. SAP/ BI/BPC.
  • BPC/SAP experience
  • Ability to prioritise and is resilient.
  • Ability to identify process and reporting improvements and proactively implement solutions.
  • Ability to work independently managing stakeholders across a wide range of location.
  • Works as an effective Business Partner with a collaborative and flexible style.  The role will require integration with many functions.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills are required to influence and challenge.
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with all stakeholders and is a team player.
