To work in partnership with IDT Finance and Global Services Operations (GSO) functions to manage the function’s operational budget, company plan activities as well as the end-to-end finance operations encompassing request management, invoice management, Purchase Orders approval process, and recharges to BAT Business Units. The objective of this role is to provide operational visibility and insights that inform strategic business decisions to drive effective and optimised IT portfolio management via continuous improvement and automation.



Manage and co-ordinates finance activities to provide value added, commercially focused insights to the business. Plan and monitor the execution of strategy:

  • Manage cost and budgets to ensure GSO spend accurately reflect services consumed (forecasts, actual vs planned, accruals, etc.)
  • Produce finance dashboards and regular review with GSO Leadership Team to explain variance, discuss action and drive resolution to close the finance gap.
  • Understand cost drivers and identify opportunities for cost reduction/ cost optimisation. Engage Solution Centre Managers, Service Managers and/or Business Units (End Markets) to execute cost savings plan.
  • Operationalise the cost savings plan and drive realisation of cost savings benefits via contract exploitation and commercial demand planning.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis showing the financial implications of scenarios planning to steer strategic decision making.
  • Recommend and justify appropriate actions at a strategic level to inform strategic decision making.
  • Translate strategies into plans and budgets. This will include co-ordination of assumptions and other data inputs, running the forecasting process activities, preparation and generation of financial information and perform quality review prior to releasing to the IT Services Leadership Team for approval. Ensure budgets and forecasts are robust and can be delivered, and reflect Global IT priorities, and provide support with appropriate commentaries and analysis.
  • Manage IT Configuration working in collaboration with other GSO pillars and vendors to ensure orders are translated into appropriate configuration and invoiced. It also provides key inputs in the area of “Data We Can Trust” to maintain senior management’s confidence in the ability of GSO to aptly manage its estate.
  • Devise the appropriate billing principles and mechanisms and ensure compliance by BAT and vendors.
  • Identify billing issues and resolve disputes.
  • Contribute to the optimisation and co-ordination of IT recharges to End Markets.


Automation, Innovation, Management Control and Governance Responsibilities:

  • Liaise closely with FBP team to ensure data integrity in the reporting tool and dashboard
  • Develop and assist in automating finance processes utilising creative and innovative processing solutions.
  • Understand the functionality, interfaces, and interdependencies of the financial processes and systems; ensure the existence of adequate internal controls.
  • Maintain complete and accurate standard operating procedures and support control documentation requirements;
  • Drive the harmonisation of ITIL and non-ITIL processes across GSO and within the BAT IT function. Change agent for deployment of new / revised financial processes;
  • Raise and reinforce general levels of financial and commercial awareness within IT management in GSO ensuring compliance and consistency with Global IT and Financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide support as and when needed to assist line manager in overseeing day-to-day operations or to manage transformation projects.






  • IDT Services Leadership Team and Extended Leadership Team – identify, recommend and implement improvements in the provision and analysis of financial information to assist senior management in reaching well-supported decisions
  • Business Units (Regions, end markets) / Business Functions (Service Managers, Solution Centres/ Projects) – understand changing business requirements and develop finance capabilities to support the change
  • IDT Services/ IDT Delivery Finance – collaborate to define and lead the implementation of financial processes in GSO, and support financial modelling exercises for Global initiatives.
  • IT Procurement/ IT Legal/ Vendor Manager - support contract renewals/ proposal and provide strategic finance and commercial input in the areas of projects appraisal and pricing via the iCAP process. Ensure operational execution in accordance to contracts/ Contract Change Notes (CCN’s) or Service Level Agreements (SLA’s). Support vendor manager for review of SLA breaches and calculate service credit, earn back and agree with suppliers on credit issuance.





  • Possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/ Actuarial Science/ Data Science or equivalent to the field with professional accountancy qualification (i.e. CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/ ICAEW)
  • At least 3-5 years of managerial experience in a global FMCG or similar dynamic operating environment;
  • Proficient in accounting standards and able to apply relevant skills and knowledge to act as business partners;
  • A thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, specifically BI/BPC, SAP or ERP equivalent;
  • Able to drive projects and process improvements and handle a remote customer base model;
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, and can work under pressure with minimum supervision;
  • Knowledgeable in identifying risks and in implementing controls;
  • Able to communicate well in English (both verbal and written).
