Responsible for the execution of global category “Sourcing to Contract” specifically:

  •  Source to contract (sourcing plan, tender, negotiate and contract)
  •  Spend and compliance reporting
  •  Commercial risk management
  •  Contract Management

Principal Accountabilities

This team is part of Global Procurement and will deliver commercial expertise across all areas of BAT IT. The team’s responsibilities will include sourcing, negotiating escalated supplier disputes, demand capture and sourcing governance.  It will offer a ‘one stop shop’ for BAT’s IT Function to interface with for all commercial sourcing activity.  At present BAT is embarking on mass transformation with digital technologies being the future and key enabler to delivering a better business for tomorrow. IT procurement is expected to help build the category strategies on which vendors to partner with, using market analysis of suppliers’ capabilities and alignment to the BAT strategy.

 

Procurement in BAT is focused on delivering smart spend management, enabling innovation and building quality partnerships, both internally and externally. We work closely with the Business ensuring that the materials, goods and services we procure meet our quality needs at an acceptable total cost of acquisition

 

Reporting to the Global Sourcing Manager, you’ll be responsible for strategic sourcing activities across all IT sub-categories at a global/multi-regional level, assisting with the creation of the IT Commercial Roadmap and Category Strategy, executing IT Strategy against the IT Commercial Roadmap and providing supplier account management for one of more strategic suppliers.

Specifically, you will:

 

Business

  • Be responsible for the execution of category strategies and development of sourcing plans at a global/multi-regional level to align with the IT Commercial Roadmap and IT Strategy.
  • Apply global policies, standards and platforms including the agreed strategic sourcing process to deliver robust terms and conditions that manages Procurement’s service delivery and commercial risk.
  • Lead global and geographic contract negotiations, supplier management and drive geographic continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.
  • To review and update sourcing plans on a periodic basis in alignment with the release of new updated category strategies.
  • Support local sourcing activities, where required.
  • Set-up and manage material and governance bodies for decisions on RFI/FRP negotiating points.
  • Support all contract drafting.
  • Ensure contracts are completed for all relevant agreements and that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) have been agreed with the relevant business owner.
  • Manage and resolve contractual performance issues and escalate where required.

Leadership

  • Lead the process of sourcing execution to ensure delivery of the category strategy and targets against requisite timeframes.
  • Drive and own assigned supplier release cycles and demand plans relevant to role.
  • Pro-actively share knowledge and best practices amongst the members of the IT Procurement community.
  • Raise level of IT commercial awareness within IT and drive increased commercial behaviours and accountability from stakeholders.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities.

 

Management

  • Manage negotiation and supplier selection within the framework of the category strategies.
  • Capture and report on geographic compliance using the agreed compliance platform and escalate through geographic procurement structures.
  • Provide forecasts on prices and market changes as an input into planning where appropriate.
  • Provide information on negotiation results (all specs/grades, clear duration, validity for orders or deliveries) in a timely manner.
  • Escalate where achievement of milestone dates against plans are not going to be achieved by any party and provide mitigation.
  • Identify new products and services that may impact on sourcing execution and escalate appropriately.  

 

Relationship

  • Build strong internal and external business relationships to ensure the delivery of the category strategy.
  • Provide sourcing support to the Regional Sourcing Managers (RSMs)
  • Provide support to the Global Category Manager (GCM) in the creation of Category Strategies.

Context/ Environment

Procurement is a global line organisation that delivers direct and indirect procurement to Operations and Commercial, with above market management of categories and suppliers. The Procurement organisation design sets a clear delineation between the development of procurement strategy (Global) and the execution of it (either Global or local). Everything that could be centralised is managed Globally, if not managed by the End Markets.  Transactional elements of Procurement processes move to Finance Shared Services. Procurement Strategy and Planning support is centrally managed.  

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience in managing large scale, global projects and programs to improve performance and deliver service for a period of 2 years minimum.
  •  A high level of commercial awareness and strong numerical ability.
  • An advanced understanding of financial evaluation and interpretation of supplier’s responses and their key cost and business drivers.  
  • An advanced knowledge of procurement processes, methods and techniques, including advanced negotiation skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of supply market, supplier capabilities, competitor activity, and expected trends at a geographic / global level.
  • Can demonstrate experience in dealing with a range of vendors: IBM; Oracle; SAP, Orange Business Services, Fujitsu, TCS, Microsoft, Accenture, Deloitte.
  • Has a detailed knowledge of software licensing models commonly deployed in global organisations, accompanied with an understanding of the cost drivers within these models.
  • Proven capability of applying supplier management techniques to deliver added value benefits in addition to contracted benefits.
  • Experience in successful development of complex, multi-country contracts and agreements.
  • Sound knowledge of corporate regulations and legislation to ensure the creation of effective group contracts.
  • A good knowledge of digital technologies and suppliers of such technologies to be able to advise IT stakeholders on market trends and capabilities to influence stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Relevant business qualification.
  • CIPS Corporate Diploma in Purchasing and/or membership of The Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply or equivalent country qualification or membership would be an advantage
