Job purpose and key deliverables


Purpose Statement


  • This managerial position will be responsible for managing New Categories Products (Specifications Vapour & Tobacco Heating Products Categories) data processes and activities of the NC Data Management Team, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all Specification Data used in by NC business.
  • Ensure adherence to the global (and cross functional) create/modify/delete data management processes applicable in BAT’s global systems by NC users, ensuring that any issues with data integrity or misalignment between systems are resolved by the relevant owners in a timely manner within agreed SLAs.
  • Review New Categories Specification management process, standards, and governance.  Prioritise and recommend ways to enhance performance and effectiveness as part of a rolling 12-month work plan of continuous improvement. Lead implementation of new changes through delivery of well structured, accurate New Categories product specification data as it’s a fundamental enabler to unlock the committed financial business benefits under TaO.


Key Accountabilities


Operations/ Professional/ Business

  • Manage the creation, amendment, and deletion activities for NGP Product Specification data within the NGP Current Business Team
  • Develop, co-ordinate and deliver training to the other team members and other Global and Regional entities as appropriate in line with approved changes to processes or systems.
  • Ensure that the processes for creation, amendment and deletion are understood and owned across the NGP business plus factories and end markets.
  • Ensure that all documentation is updated in line with any business changes to processes
  • Monitor data completeness and accuracy through monthly KPI, Global compliance and data quality reports, to drive improved data integrity.
  • Drive data cleansing activities to proactively identify missing or incorrect specification data and put corrective actions in place
  • Ensure all data errors are resolved by the relevant department (New Categories) in a timely manner within the stated SLA timelines to minimise any adverse impact on planning and systems use
  • Complete Business Impact Assessments for product Data changes and new implementations
  • Act as a New Categories product specification expert, contribute to global, regional projects as required on behalf of the NC organisation and drive implementation of approved changes into BAU as applicable



  • When necessary support recruitment and manage additional temporary resources to cover BAU staff deployed for project requirements.
  • Act as back-up for the NC product coordinators, cover for as deputy for the NGP Specifications Manager






  • Manage the NC Product Specification activities and workload, ensuring priorities are set and timelines are met, for BAU and the numerous global and regional projects.
  • Review NC Product data process, standards, and governance. 
  • Build a work plan for NC Product data administration process and efficiency improvement, covering a minimum rolling 12-month period including relevant strategy, priorities, and tactical execution detail
  • Lead the implementation of new changes and deployment of new product or platforms.



  • Proactively develop working relationships with global / regional teams and stakeholders, guiding them on NC Product specifications related issues and managing alignment to business standards and priorities
  • Close working relationship with counterpart positions in NC NPD and Regional NPI, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and R&D to ensure overall alignment to a Group process and governance on data administration ways of working and governance
  • Essential requirements Knowledge, Skills & Experience




  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of SAP EH&S (Specifications, Recipes and MM)
  • High degree of understanding of supply chain processes.
  • Knowledge of Next Generation Products
  • Knowledge and understanding of Product Data processes, management, governance, and controls under the Target Operating Model (TOM) and SAP highly desirable.
