Quality Innovation Manager - NGP (Next Generation Products)

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Innovation Manager - Next Generation Products (NGP) to join our Quality team based in Southampton. The role holder is responsible for Quality Assurance of New Product Introductions/developments through product and process validation of new technologies. They will develop the relevant Quality Processes to support and assure Quality is embedded within these technologies. This role enables quality to be built into design, development and commercialisation for product and process through advanced Quality planning and excellence in innovation deployment. As Quality is contributing to ensuring end to end successful launches, the role needs to work closely with multiple stakeholders.

 

The position is specific to NGP which includes electronic devices (Vape or Tobacco Heating Products) and consumables (liquids, cartomisers or tobacco sticks).

 

Principal accountabilities

 

  • Participates in the technical development and delivery of Innovation on behalf of the Quality workstream through concept, design, development and commercialisation stages.
  • Contributes to Quality being integrated into each project deliverable and specific Quality protocols.
  • Identifies and develops the Critical to Quality (CtQ) requirements for innovative products based on product concept, brand quality expectations and consumer research findings into a Quality Requirements Specification (QRS)
  • Applies advanced Quality planning tools (e.g. APQP and others) for design, development and qualification of new products.
  • Ensures robust DFMEA from system to component level, tolerance stacks completed and aligned with DFM and robust PFMEA for all process steps. Builds the Quality Control plan for each innovation.
  • Works with the technical team to develop the Design Verification Plan & Report and the required test methods to support.
  • Supports prototype development & manufacture and review and approve based on validation testing.
  • Inputs into the selection, assessment and qualification of supplier quality capability in line with BAT requirements.
  • Supports creation of Suppliers Quality Agreements for new materials/new suppliers within Global NPI projects.
  • Supports commissioning and qualification of new technology & process, reviews & approves process capability and process validation reports. Where required, reviews and approves PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process).
  • Provides input for Technical Reviews & Technical Approvals from Quality.
  • Transitions innovation projects into BAU following commercialisation. Makes proposals for reshaping the Quality standards, by identifying new elements or required modifications to accommodate the new products portfolio based on projects learnings.
  • Inputs into the continued development and improvement of the Quality Innovation team and delivery of its KPIs.
  • Identifies risks and ensures adequate mitigation or escalation when impacting on cost, quality or delivery. 

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

 

  • Degree level in Engineering or equivalent Applied Science.
  • Experience of electronics/ device manufacture. 
  • Emphasis in design, manufacturing, quality, test, reliability activities and statistical/ data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge in Advanced Quality Planning tools/Design for Six-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Experience of establishing quality protocols and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience of SPC and Continuous Improvement tools.
  • Competent auditor with experience of evaluating and assessing suppliers.
  • Experience in working across multiple functions/projects is preferred.
  • Effective influencing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt fast and self-develop.
