Job Purpose

 

To coordinate specific engagement activities on behalf of Research and Development (R&D), such as: publication planning, managing relationships with publishers, corporate memberships for R&D, arranging bespoke training for R&D staff, overseeing delivery of bespoke scientific communication tools, optimization of internal systems for the Internal Reports and manuscripts submitted to external peer-reviewed journals.

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Play a key coordinating role in creating visibility/awareness of scientific engagement activities across R&D, Next Generation Products and Scientific Affairs
  • Manage delivery of projects associated with external relationships to support R&D scientific engagement using project management tools (including bespoke R&D brochures, reports and apps)
  • Oversee delivery of bespoke training sessions on engagement, scientific writing and refereeing skills (and any new needs identified) for staff across R&D
  • Manage and delivery a comprehensive resource of material for staff to consult (e.g. submission, rejection letters)
  • Continue to own the external publication tracking system providing training to staff on how to most effectively use the system, ensuring increasing compliance with the system
  • Identify and explore opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, conferences and publications with external organizations
  • Take lead role with publisher relationship management (e.g. press release management)
  • Oversee identification of newsworthy manuscripts, then the drafting, approval and issuing of press releases

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • Directly relevant professional/ academic achievement equivalent to 1st or 2nd Degree
  • Able to engage with senior external stakeholders
  • Experience of working across functions and organizations
  • Strong management, planning, reporting and control of project and program skills
  • Good change management experience and comfortable with supporting change initiatives.
