ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

 

The purpose of the role is to provide toxicological guidance and leadership within the Tobacco Heating Products (THP) category. To lead product Deployment activities including product maintenance and regional developments, while supporting the communication of the findings, helping position BAT as industry professionals & achieve desired business growth.

 

The position is a technical leadership role for the Tobacco Heating Product (THP) category. Leading the delivery of THP Deployment requirements for the global business. This will include the creation of product maintenance evaluation rules for compliance evaluations, science plans are implemented for more complex projects (Central or Regional), information in internal systems is kept to a high standard as well as reviewing ways of working to ensure processes are simple, efficient and well documented.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • To act as Consumer Product Safety (CPS) lead and provide direction and consultancy on ‘CPS’ aspects for THP projects.
  • Help shape the direction of the Stewardship Science for THP and other categories.
  • To prioritise regional workload across the team working alongside technical planning team to provide accurate information for monthly prioritization meetings.
  • Drive and deliver THP complex projects that requires Science Plans connecting to internal partners, such as experimental toxicology team, analytical, PRRP science, product developers, sensory, to support the toxicological assessment.
  • To conduct CPS evaluations and provide clearance on ingredients and products to ensure they meet appropriate standards. Will involve requesting and securing all necessary product information from suppliers to enable these risk assessments. Work with supply chain / manufacturing / project team to ensure these are built into the delivery plans.
  • To coach and train direct reports and other CPS members across the wider group. Whilst the role holder will be primarily focused on THP, it would be expected to support the wider CPS helping to align assessments and approaches on THP and other product categories (e.g. Vapour etc). 
  • The role holder is expected to be a CPS champion in the wider business and specifically when representing CPS in project meetings with R&D functions, end markets and suppliers.
  • Challenge current paradigms & approaches. Identify & deliver an overarching project that enables an efficient, robust yet simplified toxicological risk assessment.

 

CAN THIS BE YOUR FUTURE ROLE?

  • Do you have knowledge of the principles of Risk Assessments and Toxicology?
  • Do you have previous experience with consumer product safety?

 

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of the principles of Toxicology & Quantitative Risk Assessment.
  • Good awareness of FMCG business operations or Pharmaceutical operations.
  • Strategic thinker developing future state & vision.
  • Good communication, proactive and simple, capable of conveying complex technical requirements simply.
  • Creative, collaborative, entrepreneurial, dynamic, tenacious.
  • Ability to manage upwards effectively and assertively, as well as within the peer group, to help drive and inform the decision-making process.
  • Positive ‘can do’ attitude and effective problem solver. Proven attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Academic qualification (degree or further) in relevant field.
