Job purpose:
To conduct work activities ranging from sample preparation through to resolve problems or challenges defined by management aimed to support the development of NGP products and their delivery.
Responsible for managing appropriate project spend (up to ~£50k p.a.)
No direct line management responsibility but may be responsible for directing the activities of Senior Technologist contractors

Principal Accountabilities
  • Work is allocated from managerial levels would include (but not inclusive)
  • Execution of simple experiences at lab or pilot plant level
  • Sample production support
  • Materials ordering and inventory management of specific materials
  • In-process QA test activities, sample QA testing, product performance testing
  • Building own product knowledge and sharing within the team
  • Report generation and administrative support of individual product development projects
  • Data administration in Tao system, data processing, including QA data
  • Technical guidance on how this work is to be achieved would be available, but the task is achieved by thorough understanding of principles and concepts
  • Recognised proficiency in some methods/ processes. e.g.: administration system would be expected, statistical knowledge, quality, experimental design
  • Ability to apply, from broad and thorough understanding and experience of methods /process, appropriate solutions or approaches to identify and resolve problems
  • Work conducted using principles of ‘Best Practice’
  • Develop new working procedures/ methods to increase productivity and quality on Product Development/Discovery activities
  • Contribute to the generation of external Technical reports, publications and presentations via provision of robust data and project support activities

  • Planning – short to medium term workload planned accordingly to priorities
  • Understands and applies their responsibilities under the EH&S policy
  • Budget – contribute towards forecast and understands financial processes and controls.
  • Systems – coordinator and administrator of TAO system
  • Coach/train others in this level of activities
  • Communicate product risks and issues identified as part of their activities
  • Participate in working with suppliers on specific project activities
  • Participate in working with internal cross-functional teams on specific project activities
  • Generate and deliver presentations & reports
  • Identify and suggest changes to operating procedures or product specifications for subsequent approval.
  • Develop new, more efficient working procedures/ methods by objective evidence and validation for management/ Technical Review
  • Maintain and increase awareness of technical development on THP for business and self-improvement
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Directly relevant professional/academic achievement equivalent to 1st Degree in one of the physical sciences, engineering or product development related areas
  • Technical capability and knowledge: evidence of application of specialist knowledge
  • Techniques:Broad range of techniques from within specialist field
  • Business Acumen / Commercial Knowledge: any commercial organisation
  • Good time management, creative, proactive, team player
  • Technical capability and knowledge: in FMCG & in a commercial setting
  • Methods / Processes: Standard Operating Procedures
  • Product Knowledge: New product development in any category
  • Experience of working in diverse teams
  • Good attention to detail
  • Base salary from £26,400 to £33,000 per year, depending of relevant experience
  • Bonus target 10% of annual base salary
