Job Purpose

Due to changing, regulatory requirements which affect all tobacco and tobacco-related elements in our growing product portfolio, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technologist (Regulatory Compliance) to join a leading FMCG business on a permanent basis. Predominately within this role, you will be responsible for supporting the assessment, compilation, maintenance and submission of summary documentation in accordance with the requirements of country specific regulation (for example, the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) 2014/40/EU) and other applicable regulations as necessary, thereby ensuring delivery of the commercial launch plans in various markets to the agreed timelines. 
Operational / Professional / Business
  • Drive & support the compilation and submission of accurate summary technical documentation for all products in the Tobacco Product Portfolio to defined project plans and timelines
  • Support in evaluation of materials according to regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
  • Continuously drive the technical enhancement of disclosure reports
  • Review product specifications subject to regulatory reporting
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all supplier information is maintained to ensure their trust, support and co-operation
  • Support of end markets regarding questions on regulatory reporting
  • Follow and promote Company, HS&E and Quality procedures and standards to enable the business to achieve and maintain excellent results.
  • Carry out such further tasks that may be delegated by immediate line manager.

  • Support the dissemination of regulatory reporting requirements throughout BAT by providing appropriate support to the development and delivery of learning interventions
  • Planning – short and long term management of all key notification requirements (ie requests), using formal project management approaches where necessary
  • Networking – uses network to maintain oversight of evolving launch plans
  • Communication – supports the communication of reporting requirements to relevant staff in the business
  • To build strong relationships with the Product Compliance & Consumer Product Safety team
  •  Build trust into the relationship with both internal and external stakeholders including the Product Development Team, Central Product Safety Team
  • To develop and maintain effective working cross-functional relationships with stakeholders such as Product Development and Central Product Safety Teams
  • Creative thinking to support the Regulatory Reporting team, Product Compliance and engagement processes
  • Develop a greater understanding of the key compliance principles, as a way of ensuring the reporting of product information is both correct and accurate
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
  • A good first degree in a relevant technical discipline, ideally chemical background and/or area of expertise developed through experience and positive track record
  • Ability to review and assess technical documentation against current compliance requirements
  • Possess advanced computer competency in SAP, Microsoft office software, data collection and general analysis tools. Microsoft Excel proficiency particularly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, with proven track record in managing large amounts of data whilst maintaining a meticulous level of accuracy (‘eye for detail’)
  • Ability to demonstrate projects undertaken have been satisfactorily completed within agreed timescales
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal reasoning skills

  • Base salary from £27,200 to £34,000 per year, depending of relevant experience
  • Bonus target between 0-20% of annual base salary
