Job Purpose
 
We are currently looking for a Senior Technologist with experience in analytical chemistry to play a key role within the Analytical Development Center team, as part of our R&D Hub in Southampton.
 
Principal Accountabilities
 
  • Provide support in operating HPLC-MS and GC-MS instruments.
  • Apply relevant laboratory techniques to extract, separate and analyze trace level constituents in complex sample matrices.
  • Apply appropriate solutions or approaches to identify and resolve problems relevant to the analysis of tobacco, smoke and all materials associated with the construction or use of smoking articles and Next Generation Products.
  • Generate technical reports, publications and presentations.
  • Develop new working procedures, methods or working practices, as a result of a problem or challenge.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 
  • Professional/academic achievement in Chemistry or a related physical science up to 1st degree level or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 12 months practical experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory. 
  • Experience of working in an ISO accredited and/or GLP compliant laboratory.
  • Relevant technical experience resulting in a thorough knowledge of good laboratory practice, principles of sample preparation, measurement & analysis. 
  • Experience in measurement & analytical techniques such as gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry or other relevant measurement techniques.
  • Practical experience of operating HPLC-MS and GC-MS instruments is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to agreed timelines.
  • Good communication and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • Creative, flexible and receptive to change.

  • Base salary from £26,400 to £33,000 per year, depending of relevant experience.
