Context

BAT Exports is an export entity servicing markets in AmSSA and APME.  Finished Goods, Cut rag tobacco and wrapping materials are purchased from BAT factories and third parties, and sold to 3rd Party Distributors and BAT entities.  From a Management Reporting perspective all transactions are managed by market, so that the profitability of each end market can be assessed.  A balance sheet is also maintained for each market. 

BAT Exports is highly complex in terms of foreign exchange with purchases and sales in multiple currencies.  Foreign exchange exposure is managed through forward and spot deals, and hedge accounting is in place.

BAT Exports operates in some challenging environments with sanctions being a feature in a number of markets.  Hence compliance with sanctions is a key control objective for the team.

The business model for exports continues to be subject to change and hence the team operate in a continuously evolving environment with ongoing project management and support as well as flexibility being a key requirement of the job holder and team. 

The management structure for BAT Exports is complex with accountability for delivery of volume and financial targets residing with end market and Area teams, whilst responsibility for the integrity of the legal entity results resides with the UK based management team.  Decision making in respect of key business activities also resides with the UK based management team.  As a result, relationship management and provision of support to end market and Area teams is a key component of the team’s role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Operational/ Professional/ Business

  • Support the team in ensuring internal recharges to BAT Exports RoW Markets are raised and approved on a timely basis, ensuring costs are split accurately by profit centre
  • Support the team with ensuring external recharges are raised on a timely basis
  • Support with monthly journal postings, ensuring SOX compliance is adhered to
  • Manage all (WMS, FG, CRT) pricing related masterdata updates (sales pricing, transfer pricing, product costing), liaising with GBS and stakeholders as necessary
  • Support the team with BPC reports for monthly forecasting
  • Support the team with maintaining the control environment
  • Ad-hoc support as required to support the team

Leadership

Support the RoW Commercial Finance team through excellent teamworking, striving for personal excellence through personal growth, developing own technical and managerial skills as identified and agreed in personal development plan.

Relationships

Build a strong network within BAT to ensure that issues can be quickly identified and resolved.

Innovation

Continuously strive for efficiency without compromising the quality and integrity of the Management information.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • General Business Awareness
  • An understanding of the cigarette and leaf business.
  • An understanding of the relationships / interfaces between departments and functions.
  • A good understanding of the BAT reporting processes.
  • A good working knowledge of SAP and BPC
  • Excellent Excel skills

  • Possess excellent influencing and communications skills with ability to interact with all levels of senior management.
  • An ability to work effectively with all levels of staff within the Company and externally.
  • A self starter who can identify options to solve new problems and challenges rather than always looking to others for solutions
