ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
The role is responsible for supervising and advising on the external political environment with the aim of achieving sensible regulation which balances both the business imperatives and corporate reputation of BAT in Denmark. You will also handle and drive BAT’s Danish engagement in the market, and act as a key relationship for regulators and third-party in Denmark, to lead the development of strategies to ensure a sensible regulatory framework on issues that impact the business.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- Lead and build robust plans for interacting with the external political environment;
- Run the integration of all LEX activities to address external issues in line with the business’s strategies where required;
- Lead and manage, with support of the Senior Government Affairs Manager, the input to the development of company policies, strategies and practices in response to relevant regulatory issues;
- To identify and instigate a structure and process for representing the company and engaging with key partners around the Area including (but not limited to):
- Regulatory authorities in Denmark;
- Third-party stakeholders;
- To work closely with the entire LEX function to ensure that regulatory plans and activities are fully integrated and coordinated with other stakeholder and business activities;

- Are you proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and similar Office tools?
- Do you have experience in working with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, and leading others to deliver on strategic objectives?
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Experience Required
- The candidate should have minimum 3 years’ experience in handling public issues, preferably with experience both inside the political environment and/ or in consultancy and in-house roles.
- An in-depth understanding of government and regulatory affairs is essential, as is direct experience in dealing with stakeholders on sensitive and complex regulatory issues. A good understanding of the sensitivities and complexities involved in the industry and the issues facing British American Tobacco is also required.
- The candidate should show strong strategic, analytical and planning skills, as well as a creative and effective approach to problem solving.
- Finally, the individual needs to demonstrate strong people leadership skills, as well as the willingness and ability to work well with peers and senior management.
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
- Proficiency in Powerpoint and Excel required
- Highly developed written and oral communications skills in both Danish and English are crucial, as is the ability to influence and engage socially. Candidate will be required to speak and write in English on a daily basis.
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required
- Completed studies in political sciences, law, economics or similar.
- 3+ years experience in handling public policy issues
