JOB TITLE: Production Engineering Manager 

REPORTS TO: Production Manager 

FUNCTION: Operations 



Implementation of the strategy for continuous improvement of factory performance in terms of production efficiency and product quality assurance, all in accordance with customer requirements. Leading, overseeing, and developing key production support functions in production engineering, maintenance, equipment, and assembly control and repair. Advocating the philosophy of continuous improvement in all areas of business and encouraging others to adopt all available techniques with the aim of achieving continuous improvement. Ensures timely support for machine maintenance and the earliest possible resolution of identified deficiencies to achieve continuous production and high machine efficiency. Adheres to work procedures, defined processes, and work instructions, and uses personal knowledge to further optimize them. Ensures record-keeping of results in relation to set goals, analyzes results, and proposes and implements activities that should lead to goal achievement. Ensures an efficient process of maintaining production equipment and assemblies. Leads the factory's PM (Preventive Maintenance) Pillar, IWS (Integrated Work System). 


  • Identifies and systematically eliminates key performance and quality issues to improve factory performance and reduce waste, aiming to achieve CBN and the factory master plan.
  • Handles the costs and assets of the PE department within the agreed budget and conducts cost analysis of spare parts, subassemblies, and assemblies to implement cost-reduction solutions.
  • Represents production needs in engineering projects, ensuring that acceptance criteria/requirements are fully understood and met.
  • Promotes continuous improvement of production performance using IWS and leads the factory's Preventive Maintenance (PM) Pillar.
  • Works with Production Managers to identify improvement opportunities, prioritize them based on impact, and develop and implement action plans.
  • Develops maintenance processes (including SAP PM module) to find optimal levels of corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance, and implements essential changes.
  • Supervises the annual maintenance plan, monitors performance, ensures timely equipment repair and maintenance, and maintains data availability.
  • Conducts cost analysis for maintenance and assembly, prepares cost plans for vital spare parts, and maintains optimal stock levels and accurate warehouse data.
  • Ensures efficient procurement of spare parts and assemblies, timely advises partners of deviations from deadlines, and procures parts for refurbishment.
  • Ensures the proper operation of factory systems (MES, Track and Trace, digital production solutions, ANT) across production lines, adhering to IWS standards.
  • Maintains a motivated team through appropriate training and development, promotes guiding, and encourages continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Develops local production strategies that support regional strategies, holds regular team meetings, and ensures good communication within and between departments.
  • Handles key processes, determines spare parts requirements, preserves machine documentation, and continuously seeks performance improvement opportunities.
  • Handles personnel development, workforce planning, performance evaluations, and communication, fostering interaction and removing communication barriers.
  • Encourages idea generation, evaluation, and implementation from all factory areas, and ensures efficient spare parts management and reporting.
  • Communicates efficiently with internal and external spare parts users, regional/global management teams, and adheres to EHS standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a BAT ambassador, respects company processes, and ensures quality work and documentation.
  • Trains and professionally develops team members, suggests and implements department performance improvements, and aligns with environmental and safety laws and standards.
  • Aligns with business continuity management and performs all other tasks as delegated by supervisors.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Technical education (University degree/Higher education) with significant experience in production management.
  • Excellent knowledge of production processes, procedures, and equipment within the factory.
  • Responsible, with the ability to set work priorities, plan, and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong record-keeping, communication, presentation, analytical, and organizational skills, with meticulousness and reliability in performing business tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence key partners, empower teams, and handle people efficiently.
  • Proficient in people and organizational change, with significant experience in factory management, new technologies, supplier relations, and machine procurement.
  • Proven understanding of EHS standards and policies, familiar with raw materials and products.
  • Phenomenal teammate with digital literacy (MS Office, SAP – especially Plant Maintenance module) and sophisticated use of Excel and analytical tools for continuous performance improvement.
  • Excellent knowledge of IWS methodology and proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

Working Relationships 


  • Maintains good relations with the Production Manager, Production Maintenance Manager, Specialists within the PE department, Cell Managers,  PMD Manager, Line Structure Maintenance Managers, Technicians and Electricians, Planning Department, E&SS Department, QA Department, IT Department. 
  • Develops positive relations with regional members of the PM and R&RS team, and the PM Pillar. 
  • Nurtures positive collaborations factories. 


  • Maintains good relations with suppliers of spare parts, providers of maintenance services for production equipment and systems, and suppliers of materials and machines.
