British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Compliance & Legal Operations Manager – Western Europe in London, Chiswick (Fixed-term contract for 12 months)
The Compliance and Legal Operations Manager, Western Europe, plays a key role within the Western Europe Legal Team by supporting the Compliance agenda and driving the effective and efficient delivery of Legal Operations across the region. With a strong focus on risk mitigation and regulatory alignment, this role provides strategic support on a wide range of compliance matters, ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to meet both legal and internal regulatory requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supports the effective and efficient management of Compliance activities across WE, including but not limited to the roll out of global and regional initiatives.
- Support the effective and efficient management of Legal Operations* across WE, including but not limited to the roll out of global and regional legal transformation initiatives.
- Find opportunities to develop and implement internal process guidelines, templates and workflows to manage risk and optimise the use of legal resource (working in close collaboration with End Market Legal, Regional Legal and Compliance and Global Business Integrity Team colleagues).
- Assist in the assessment of suitability and implementation of technical solutions for use in WE Legal.
- Support in the management of all change planning and associated communication.
What are we looking for?
- 3+ years’ experience in an in-house legal and/or compliance department or relevant operational management role, with a proven track record of risk management.
- Licenced professional – legal and/or compliance qualifications preferred. Or in the process of achieving certification/qualification.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and standards, such money laundering, antitrust law, data protection, sanctions etc.
- Experience in developing and implementing compliance policies, procedures, and systems.
- Experience in conducting compliance audits, controls, and training.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, and ability to plan, anticipate and balance priorities to optimise output and enhance the effectiveness of commercial solutions.
- Ability to influence and foster buy-in from people across functions.
- Highly articulate confident individual with excellent written communication, presentational and drafting skills.
- Hands-on, adaptable and pro-active attitude, sound commercial judgement and ability to work under pressure and to cope with unexpected and varied demands.
