This is why our Research and Development is so important to the business, and we are investing and accelerating our activities to generate new science and innovation. Today, we operate in a broad spectrum of scientific fields including molecular biology, toxicology and chemistry, and it is that breadth of expertise which fuels the relentless innovation and learning that sets us apart as an industry leader. Globally, we employ more than 1500 R&D specialists, many of whom are focused on research and development of New Category products. Our main R&D hub is based in Southampton in the UK and is supported by R&D teams across the world.

Scientific and Regulatory Capabilities
Our Role
As a member of the Scientific & Regulatory Capabilities (SRC) team, your role will be to bring your specific expertise to ensure the integrity and competitiveness of our global product portfolio, and in helping to ensure that our new products are designed to the highest standards of product integrity and consumer appeal.

MRTP Science
Our Role
As a member of our Modified Risk Tobacco Products Science team, you’ll gather scientific evidence that can support the reduced risk status of our product. You’ll be part of a Global team working with scientists across multiple disciplines and will be key in communicating our science externally. And you’ll deliver the science that meets societal and regulatory needs.

Conducting World Class Science in a new and evolving field and communicating and defending that science to regulatory bodies as part of our purpose to reduce the health impact of our business through offering a greater choice of enjoyable and less risky products for our consumers*. *Based on the weight of evidence and assuming a complete switch from cigarette smoking. New Sciences
Our Role
In New Sciences, we lay the foundations for competing and leading in the New Categories business. We identify future opportunities for innovation and use cutting-edge scientific insights to uncover innovative solutions. And we work together to ensure our sustainable future by balancing consumer preferences, efficient processes, public health and regulation.

Combustibles R&D
Our Role
As a member of our Combustibles team, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead product innovations and oversee product governance. You’ll set the combustibles strategy and develop brand product standards. And you’ll lead the wider team, developing and validating our growth.

Our Combustibles Innovation R&D team has a mission to define, design and deliver a new-to-world innovations pipeline. This means satisfying consumer preferences in new ways, working with the New Categories team on blending and flavour development.
New Categories R&D
Our Role
As a member of our New Categories R&D Team, you’ll work on developing scalable, cutting-edge products, including devices and consumables to help deliver on our company’s purpose to build A Better Tomorrow™ and have 50 million non-combustible consumers by 2030.

Our team works closely with other functions on discovering novel product technologies and materials to remain relevant and competitive in the market.
