To ensure the reward agenda, programmes and policies support the delivery of the business objectives in a sustainable manner, while also being aligned to global principles, frameworks, guidelines, and policies.
What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?
Provide expert guidance, support, and solutions to the end market/Business Unit/Area (DRBU) HR teams and business stakeholders to ensure the reward deliverables, practices, and processes are fit-for-purpose and implemented in an efficient and effective manner, supporting the current and future business needs.
Partner with the Global Reward team (including Executive Reward, Global Mobility, Shares, Pension & Benefits), Reward Analytics & Design (RAD) team, HR community and business leaders to ensure that programmes are relevant, market competitive, aligned to the Company’s overall strategic objectives and have a positive impact on the long- and short-term performance of the Company.
- Manage the end-to-end cyclical reward activities (such as competitiveness analyses & insights, pay range adjustments, pay equity and living wage certifications, salary increment budgeting, etc.) to deliver the expected outcomes defined by the reward strategy, and to ensure commercial relevance of all reward design solutions.
- Collaborate with End Market and DRBU-level stakeholders to manage the bottom-up reward demand plan items (e.g., benefits review and well-being initiatives).
- Engage and collaborate with the Reward Analytics & Design (RAD) team on ad hoc or planned bottom-up reward demand items and other reward analysis and design requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships within the HR Community, Global Reward Team and RAD team to share best practices and build understanding of the current and future reward trends.
- Engage internal stakeholders (including HRDs, General Managers and Finance Directors) on the overall reward agenda, building understanding within the markets and soliciting feedback for continuous improvement.
- Act as internal reward consultant/subject matter expert providing advice and consultancy to HRDs and their teams as a single point of contact within the Reward CoE, including reward elements of Collective Labour Agreements.
- Advise end markets on changes required to reward programmes in response to regulatory changes.
- Drive improvement to existing reward programmes by keeping abreast of local market trends/insights as well as global initiatives, whilst maintaining an appropriate level of alignment to global reward frameworks.
- Ensure the integrity and consistency of job levelling, providing an appropriate level of empowerment and support to the HR teams.
- Oversee the fulfilment of reward data requirements from internal and external stakeholders and vendors (e.g., surveys, regional/global requests, etc.).
- Provide regional representation for a reward process (e.g., pay and grading, insights and reporting, benefits and training and incentives) globally collaborating with functional counterparts from other regions and the relevant RAD Process Lead.
- Contribute to global reward projects, initiatives and share best practices.
- Build reward knowledge and understanding within the HR community through coaching and training, enabling them to execute reward interventions autonomously, accurately, and consistently including applying sound judgement and decision making for reward related decisions.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
ESSENTIAL
Experience Required
- Already operating at an experienced managerial level (leading-self or leading others)
- Around 8 to 10 years of total reward and/or relevant HR experience, reward consulting experience would be an advantage
- Experience in complex, matrixed, multinational organisations, with the ability to navigate complexity to deliver on time, in full
- Strong understanding of reward design, best practices, and local legislation
- Experience engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels
- Experience operating in different cultural contexts
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
- Reward expertise: Able to proactively apply reward best practices and tools in designing reward solutions that are aligned to global reward and HR strategy and competitive vs. market
- Project management: Able to manage own deliverables, ensure timely completion of project milestones and communicate progress regularly with stakeholders for feedback and input
- Engagement/consultancy: Proactively engage and build long-term trusted relationship with stakeholders; build credibility with the business by providing sound reward solutions that are market relevant and in line with BAT’s reward philosophy
- HR service delivery: Able to coach/advise end market HR team to adhere to reward processes and governance; at the same time, identify areas for improvement for these processes
- Business acumen: Able to rapidly build strong understanding of the business agenda and context and link reward solutions to the business needs, while balancing business and HR priorities appropriately and making decisions for the benefit of the overall organisation
- Solution delivery and design: Apply market insights and best practices to help design solutions in line with reward strategy and global HR governance, whilst also considering any implementation challenges
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
BENEFICIALExperience operating as, or with, reward consultants (e.g., Mercer, KF Hay, WTW, Aon Hewitt)
- Experience as HR generalist, preferably with regional exposure
- Knowledge and experience of change management
