ROLE SUMMARY
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?
To take full responsibility for the BAT relationship and P&L with the allocated accounts and set and implement the strategy for growth management of the total account portfolio. The role is responsible for the generation and execution of Account plans which deliver volume, market share and other commercial objectives aligned with the TM&D / Brand strategies through the achievement of Availability, Visibility, Dialogue & Activation. Effectively handle Key Account budgets, support pricing & own / drive further improvement in Key Account processes. Actively engage / support Finance team and other cross functional teams to deliver efficient level of results for the business. Ensuring optimal deployment of both human and financial resources. This role has 3 direct KAM reports.
This role requires the individual to possess a broad understanding of the consumer profiles in relation to our Strategic Brands and an ability to align these to the individual accounts own Store profiles. The account handler should achieve Availability, Visibility, Dialogue & Activation objectives at an individual store or depot (or in clusters of stores or depots) to support Company Strategy
A very comprehensive understanding of the account’s own strategies and marketing methods will assist the Account Handler to develop account plans which meet our own and the accounts needs. An Account Handler should be a self-starter with the ability to work on their own and drive the business forward.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Own and lead key accounts, including full responsibility for budgets, forecasts, and overall commercial performance (P&L).
- Develop and implement account strategies aligned with company objectives to drive volume, market share, and growth.
- Lead and manage a team of 2–3 direct reports, supporting day-to-day account operations and development.
- Analyze market, consumer, and sales data (e.g. Nielsen, SKU tracking) to identify trends and business opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with key external partners and internal partners to ensure effective collaboration.
- Monitor account performance and continuously optimize strategies to enhance business results and efficiency.
- Ensure accurate reporting and close collaboration with Finance across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles.
- Coordinate pricing, commercial plans, and execution excellence while ensuring alignment with internal processes and standards.
What are we looking for?
- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced and highly competitive commercial environment, balancing customer demands with business objectives.
- Strong understanding of the UK retail landscape, including key channels, customer dynamics, and market structure.
- Experience in Account or Category Management, ideally within FMCG or retail environments.
- Solid knowledge of Brand and Trade Marketing, with the ability to align strategies to customer needs and key performance indicators.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build strong partnerships.
- Strong analytical approach, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and commercial decisions.
- Good understanding of route-to-market models and supply chain processes.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach, able to set bold targets and drive performance independently.
