REYNOLDS AMERICAN has an exciting opportunity for an Director Operations Skills Development  (Manufacturing Technical Training) in Winston-Salem, NC (ROC)

We are seeking an experienced Operations Skills Development Director to lead our organization's technical training initiatives. This role is critical in driving a skills-first approach, fostering a high-performing culture, and enabling talent development at all organizational levels. The ideal candidate will combine thought leadership with practical expertise to shape our talent strategy, enhance performance metrics, and expand our training solutions globally.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Talent Assessment & Development: Designed and implemented systems for evaluating talent, aligning training with operational goals, and supporting leadership growth and retention.
  • Training Strategy & Innovation: Continuously refined and digitalized training programs, incorporating best practices and scalable solutions tailored to all operational levels.
  • Leadership & Team Enablement: Led and mentored SMEs, promoted cross-functional collaboration, and ensured consistent training standards across departments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partnered with Operations and Talent Development teams to align training initiatives with evolving business needs and performance goals.
  • Learning Product Development: Oversaw creation of impactful, globally adaptable learning materials and tools, with a focus on measurable effectiveness.
  • Cross-Functional Upskilling: Applied technical expertise to develop training for non-manufacturing teams, enhancing organizational capability.
  • Operational Excellence: Managed multiple high-priority projects, delivering results under pressure while tracking training impact through performance metrics.
  • Thought Leadership & Research: Advocated for data-driven talent strategies, conducted ROI analysis, and shared insights across global entities to enhance learning methodologies.

What are we looking for?

  •  BS in Management, Organizational Design, or related field preferred OR 7+ years in manufacturing/supply chain training.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes and efficiency drivers.
  • Strong expertise in instructional design and learning theory.
  • Analytical skills focused on talent KPIs and assessment ROI.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing competing priorities.
  • Skilled in quick decision-making and trainee performance evaluation.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% globally to support operations.

Benefit Information

The following is a general summary of the competitive compensation and benefit plans we offer:

  • 401(k) plan that offers opportunity to save on pre- and post-tax basis up to 50 percent of eligible compensation.
    • Company matches 100 percent of employee pre-tax/Roth (401k) contributions up to six percent
    • Company contributes an additional three percent to 401(k) whether employee participates or not
  • Comprehensive health- and welfare-benefits package (including medical, dental, vision, and prescription drugs)
  • Health Savings Account start-up contribution for employees who elect the high deductible health plan
