Pakistan Tobacco Companyhas an exciting opportunity for a Team Lead GLT in Pakistan

Team Lead GLT is responsible for managing line operations during the assigned shift in GLT, ensuring tobacco is processed in accordance with BAT/Customer’s Quality Specifications and achieving the company’s targets for plant and people utilization, yields, and cost, all while complying with EH&S standards during the processing season.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Operations & Business

  • Plan and manage shift operations for green leaf processing to achieve daily and monthly MPS targets while ensuring product quality, yield, and minimal waste of raw and packing materials.
  • Monitor and optimize production efficiency by tracking, analyzing, and reducing Unplanned Downtime (UPDT) to meet Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets.
  • Lead execution of Autonomous Maintenance (AM) processes including Cleaning (CL), Cleaning Inspection and Lubrication (CIL), and Defect Handling (DH) to sustain base equipment conditions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing Integrated Work Systems (IWS) and ensuring the production line progresses through IWS phases effectively.
  • Lead overhauling activities for one production line and plant instrumentation/control systems to enhance machine reliability, product quality, and overall operational performance.

Management

  • Implement and manage performance improvements by regularly analyzing plant KPIs, benchmarking best practices, and driving initiatives to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with EH&S standards including QRP, Pulsar, and safety walk processes, while promoting a strong safety culture within the GLT environment.
  • Oversee adherence to PI&T and PSC standards, ensuring proper material usage and maintaining quality compliance across the line.
  • Maintain high hygiene and pest control standards by implementing P&HM protocols, monitoring beetle counts, and ensuring upkeep of the building and line area.
  • Lead major overhauling activities of the GLT plant within defined timelines and manage effective leave planning of the line team to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Leadership & Relationship

  • Foster team development and performance by recognizing individual strengths, coaching Equipment Owners, and promoting continuous learning for both self and team members.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and support to enhance technical capabilities and accountability among team members on the production floor.
  • Build strong relationships with the CBA, ensuring transparent communication and active engagement in company initiatives.
  • Conduct engagement forums and communication sessions to educate shop floor employees on business performance and ongoing strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key departments such as Engineering, Finance, HR, PMD, and Quality to ensure alignment on productivity and product excellence goals.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Technology is preferred.
  • Preferably 2 - 4 years of relevant experience. However, candidates with at least 1 year of strong, hands-on experience may also be considered.
  • Fluent in PLC programming as well as instrumentation and control systems.
  • Strong technical foundation with a good understanding of mechanical processes (both theoretical and practical), and familiarity with storeroom operating strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach, train, and collaborate effectively with others at all levels.
