Purpose
Lead all communications and ESG strategies for Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) in Legal & CORA. This role builds PTC’s narrative or equivalent experience, aligns with business goals, manages risk, and encourages relationships with media, collaborators, and regulatory bodies.
Key Accountabilities
Strategic Contribution
- Be a key member of the Legal & CORA Team, crafting and implementing the internal and external communication strategies of PTC.
- Lead the development of key publications, including the PTC Annual Report and other business-required reports.
- Serve as the Custodian of the ESG agenda, leading and coordinating all ESG-related activities within the Legal & CORA remit.
- Drive alignment and coordination with the Area Comms team, ensuring consistent messaging and strategic direction.
Operational Management
- Monitor policy and regulatory trends, proactively identifying implications for PTC and developing robust comms strategies accordingly.
- Develop and put into action rolling communications plans with key collaborators within the organization.
- Partner with Legal & CORA sub-functions to minimize reputational risks through effective communication and governance of ESG initiatives.
- Identify legislative or governmental threats/opportunities and implement mitigation or advocacy plans.
- Commission and manage research projects through external agencies based on evolving business needs.
- Work with external media partners ensuring that PTC narrative is effectively communicated.
People Leadership
- Manage third-party resources responsible for delivering ESG and internal communications, ensuring high-quality and timely execution.
- Coordinate and manage media and communications agencies engaged to support business initiatives.
Collaborator Engagement
- Develop and nurture positive relationships with collaborators by delivering effective and influential communication strategies.
- Conduct collaborator mapping and classification to prioritize engagement and ensure targeted communication.
- Lead the development and implementation of government collaborator engagement strategies, including relationship planning and execution.
- Provide expert counsel to internal teams on ESG and communications matters, including active participation in engagements when needed.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Champion a culture of innovation across Legal & CORA, encouraging cross-functional and external knowledge sharing to continuously evolve the function’s impact.
- Review global and local standard processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and creativity in communication and ESG practices.
Key Success Measures
- Timely and high-quality execution of communication deliverables (e.g., Annual Report, internal comms)
- Measurable progress on ESG agenda and customer perception
- Proactive media management and improved corporate reputation
- Strong engagement and alignment with Area Comms and internal collaborators
- Effective collaborator relationships and issue management outcomes
Skills & Experience
- 3 - 5 years of professional experience in corporate communications, public affairs, ESG, or external relations, ideally in a regulated or multinational environment
- Demonstrated success in media relations, collaborating with various parties, and managing crisis communication
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, and regulatory trends
- Proven track record in analyzing policies, planning effectively, and managing risks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear narratives
- Ability to influence senior collaborators and build positive relationships across functions and geographies
- Experience in managing third-party agencies and contractors
