British American Tobacco has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Intern – Product Costing (Analytics and Insight) in Subang Jaya, Malaysia.
The role will perform processing of information within the R2R function with a focus on rule-based back office activities to ensure quality and accurate completion of services and key performance indicators (important metrics) as defined in the Service Level Agreement (SLA).
Your key responsibilities will include:
Reports to: Assistant Manager – Product Costing
Geographic Scope: APMEA

- To complete a range of activities, such as NPI costing, financial analysis and reporting, using the appropriate systems (SAP-ECC) and agreed standard processes.
- Perform period-end activities including Material Ledger to ensure all transactions are posted to materials and Cost centres accurately and period is closed as per timetable agreed.
- Response to queries in a timely and efficient manner to promote a business partnering culture in GBS Finance.
- Perform reconciliations for Product costings related GLs and follow-up on balancing items to ensure all items are captured into the correct GLs.
- Perform analysis and clearing of balance sheet accounts to ensure accounts are clean and suspicious transactions investigated.
- Update task level descriptions or process manuals as and when there are changes to manage knowledge retention and to assist back-ups performing tasks on behalf.
- Provide support to audit process so that entity is able to manage the balance of risk and control effectively.
- Support migration project to ensure smooth transition of tasks from end markets to GBS (wherever applicable).
- Perform testing of new systems/technology and processes as and when required to minimise potential problems to operations.
- Provide backup support to Team Lead / AM when needed to assist in overseeing the operation.
- Train new team members and share knowledge and job experience to get team members up to speed or assist them in problem solving.
- Ensure KPI figures are met as per agreed SLA with end markets.
- Assist AM / Team Lead to manage workload in the team to achieve team’s deliverables as per agreed standards.
- Identify and perform trouble-shooting on issues faced by team to resolve issues effectively and to highlight potential risks.
- Proactively develop and maintain working relationship with end markets to create good partnership between end market and GBS
- Establish and maintain working relationships within and cross-functional teams to create a positive working environment.
- Identify and actively pursue continuous improvement opportunities to increase the overall efficiency and effectiveness of processes in GBS.
What are we looking for?
- Degree in Account/Finance/Business Administration or equivalent
- Possess a good understanding of group accounting principles – ability to identify accounting issues
- Experience in using SAP system would be an added advantage.
