British American Tobacco Malaysiahas an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Next Generation Products (NGP) organization is responsible for the end-to-end commercialization of non-combustible nicotine and tobacco products, including planning, product development, and supply. Within this, NGP Operations ensures successful production and market supply, while the delivery team supports operational readiness by maintaining quality, cost, and delivery (QCD), driving cost efficiency, increasing capacity, and resolving supplier quality issues.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Day to Day liaison and supply base management for Quality Cost and Delivery.
- The delivery and management of an effective and flexible supply base that supports ongoing supply from NGP Operations Continuous Improvement within the suppliers, their processes and cascading throughout the supplier tiers and BAT where appropriate.
- Being a local and active customer partner who will respond and react to supplier issues and concerns immediately.
- In conjunction with the Manufacturing Performance Manager the assessment of supply base process capability and opportunities to increase output without impacting quality, whilst at the same time reducing cost.
- Audit of process documentation and data to ensure Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) measures are identified and controlled and processes are ‘fit-for-purpose’ and meaningful.
- Managing the BAU output and performance from the supply chain by analyzing and acting on data and statistical analysis. Driving programme actions such as Consumer Complaints and quality improvement Glidepaths. Manage and witness the APQP/PPAP process from a BAU perspective, only accepting a PSW when data driven success is evident.
- Where required travel to 2nd and 3rd tier suppliers where issues are unresolved or threatening supply and demand. Have a direct impact on Lean 6 Sigma and VSM activities, specifically helping to deliver GB projects on-site for Globally based team members.
- Identify and implement process and product KPIs to enable fast and accurate responses to CTQ changes.
What are we looking for?
- Experience in manufacturing/supply chain with strong supplier management in China/Asia. Skilled in quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA) and training suppliers without impacting QCD.
- Fluent conversational and technical spoken word in English, Mandarin or relevant Chinese dialect
- Strong in project coordination, driving improvements, cost reduction, and resolving quality issues. Applies Lean Six Sigma/5S, ensures delivery targets, and maintains effective supplier relationships.
- Builds strong collaboration between global teams and China-based suppliers.Encourages teamwork, supplier development, and cross-functional coordination.
- Ensures capable processes, smooth NPI to BAU transition, and consistent QCD performance. Drives KPI tracking, continuous improvement, and supplier performance reviews..
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and third-party vendors in complex global environments.
- Analytical, proactive, and team-oriented with strong communication skills. Comfortable with frequent travel and influencing diverse teams. Promotes creative problem-solving beyond conventional methods. Focuses on continuous improvement and right-first-time execution.
