British American Tobaccohas an exciting opportunity for a Team Lead – Corporate Finance in Selangor.
An exciting opportunity is available working in the Corporate Finance team as part of APMEA finance team, this role sits within APMEA CFOM which are the extended end market team sitting in GBS Centre in Malaysia.
The Team Lead assists the delivery of P&L planning, cash planning, treasury & controllership activities (delivery of P&L, cash flow, accounting, SOx compliance, and delivery of statutory financials) as well as handling risks and controls to meet key End Market priorities. The role interacts with Corporate Finance Controller to ensure DBS strategic objectives of standardization, scalability and consolidation are met. You will also be required to ensure all monthly business as usual (BAU) tasks relating to planning & reporting are completed on time and to a high quality.
Your key responsibilities will include:
PROFIT & LOSS
- Planning & Forecasting: Assist monthly forecasting and planning processes, support Corporate Finance Manager for financial analysis.
- Process Improvement: Assist in streamline and automate financial processes, ensure SOPs are up-to-date, and support control documentation requirements.
- Collaboration & Business Partnering: Work closely with commercial and corporate finance teams, and engage with cross-functional GBS teams for operational improvement.
- Reporting & Analysis: Assist in deliver timely and accurate financials (P&L, cash flow, QPR), support ad hoc analysis, and leverage systems like SAP and BI.
- Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and documentation.
CONTROLLERSHIP
- Balance Sheet Integrity: Perform monthly reconciliation and highlight issues.
- Month-End Closing: Perform journal for accurate and timely financial closing with all relevant finance functions.
- Control Compliance: Assist SOx compliance and internal control testing, ensuring timely remediation and compliance.
- Risk Management: Assist in control navigator exercises and risk register assessments to identify and mitigate potential disruptions.
- Audit Support: Assist audit queries/ documents (internal, external, tax, customs) to ensure full compliance and transparency.
CASH & TREASURY
- Cash Flow Forecasting: Assist accurate daily, weekly, and monthly cash transactions.
- Cash Optimization: Assist in AR, AP and banking analysis, and deliver ad-hoc analysis.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting: Assist in monthly BATCASH reports and submission.
- Process Improvement: Drive system enhancements and implement tools to boost efficiency and visibility in cash management.through proactive involvement and interaction
GENERAL ACCOUNTING
- Reporting: To monitor and carry out a range of financial tasks, such as transaction processing, financial analysis and reporting, using the appropriate systems (SAP-ECC, CFIN) and agreed standard processes including period end activities (i.e. FI-CO reconciliation)
- Monthly Financial Reports: Prepare recurring and ad-hoc reports as per agreed timeline, to facilitate end markets’ review and analysis.
- Financial Metrics: Prepare statistics on critical metrics to ensure they continue to meet agreed standards and proactively manage the reverse important metrics.
- Projects: Perform testing of new systems/technology and processes as and when required to minimise potential problems to operations.
What are we looking for?
- At least 2-3 years of progressive experience in a global FMCG or Corporate Finance environment
- Understand the impact of the accounting processes and practices and any changes in accounting standards
- A detailed understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, specifically BI/BPC or SAP equivalent
- Able to drive projects and process improvements and handle remote stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English, both orally and in writing
- Meticulous, analytical, proactive, and can work under pressure with minimum supervision
- Knowledgeable in identifying risks and in implementing controls.
- Minimum Bachelors degree in Accounting & Finance. Professional accountancy qualification i.e. CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA will be an added advantage.
