British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Product UX Manager II in London

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?  

This position is within the New Categories R&D Department and reports to the Senior UX product manager within the Design organisation, led by the Group Head of Design.

As a Product UI/UX Manager II, you will support creation of visually appealing and intuitive user experiences (Graphic (GUI), Physical (PUI) and Digital (DUI) User Interfaces)) for our connected and non-connected devices. As part of the UX Design team, you will drive the translation of user needs and business requirements into sophisticated and user-friendly solutions that improve the overall user experience.

The job holder will be part of a cross functional team collectively responsible for implementation of UI/UX solutions, working collaboratively with industrial design, CMD, brand, insights & Foresight and R&D Engineering teams also involved in the development of new products.

Key objectives are:

  • Collaborate and integrate, building information architecture, Userflows and usability studies for both display and LED based product user interfaces.
  • Drive the evolution of robust user interface and interaction design for both Heated Product and Vapour devices.
  • Engage with R&D design, hardware and software engineering teams to implement proposals effectively.
  • Demonstrate your outstanding knowledge and expertise to integrate user experience within a broader design context including collaboration on UX at a system level (consumables, packaging, applications)
  • Leverage industry trends and standard methodology in UI/UX design, driving innovation   in the UX design of our products.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Drive cross-functional alignment from design discovery through development to implementation.
  • Support the development and enhancement of graphic iconography, visual, auditory, haptic design on several types of devices - screen and LED based user interfaces.
  • Further refine and inform UX strategy.
  • Develop proposals as Userflows and wireframes and mock-ups that effectively convey UX design concepts and interactions.
  • Help coordinate user research, usability testing initiatives, enabling the gathering of insight to iteratively refine and enhance designs based on user preference and behaviour.
  • Work closely with software developers to ensure the feasibility of implementing interface designs across various platforms
  • Keep partners informed of project progress and seek input to ensure alignment with business goals and user needs
  • Engaging with industrial design, brand, research, and engineers across our 4D development process

What are we looking for?

Experience Required

  • Knowledge of design tools: Figma & Protopie or similar software
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, researchers and product managers in a systematic way.
  • Basic knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability testing methodologies, and accessibility standards

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

  • Demonstrated experience in participating UX/UI design and development initiatives, particularly in creating user interfaces for digital electronic products
  • Skilled in developing strong partnerships with leaders and diverse teams, inspiring them to be fully engaged to delivering superior products
  • Good project management skills, able to manage multiple projects in parallel

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

  • Relevant degree in interaction design or Engineering discipline

Beneficial

  • Experienced in fast moving functional products – wearable or mobile app design experience
  • End-to-End experience in consumer electronics (especially in portable or wearable devices with a display)
