British American TobaccoZambia has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering and Sustainability Manger in Lusaka.
The role will be focused to cost effectively and efficiently manage all Engineering activities, Utilities, Environment health and Safety, Facilities, Capital Projects and infrastructure for BAT Zambia
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage the maintenance and engineering functions according to best international practices to achieve company plan targets and customer satisfaction with regards to machine efficiency and reliability(OEE), world class quality, lowest possible conversion cost, waste reduction (all its forms), productivity per module
- Define resource requirements in terms of people, equipment, and technology in order to respond to market needs in the most effective way for the product and volume.
- Train and develop the skills of subordinates (supervisors through to technicians) in order to increase overall performance.
- Define and implement maintenance philosophy procedures and schedule to ensure plant reliability.
- Manage Capex program related to operations equipment and machinery to deliver on time and within budget projects that enhance productivity and quality and in line with global strategic guidelines.
- Define and implement appropriate long term and short-term technological strategies (mechanical, electrical) to improve the capabilities of the factory.
- As a member of the operations management team contribute to the definition of the operational vision, strategies and policies in order to cope with present and future challenges and opportunities.
- Manage the expenses relating to manufacturing and engineering to minimise operational costs
- Identify and evaluate all existing and potential threats to the operating company’s business arising from environmental impacts , health and safety risks , inform and recommend actions to head of function responsible and develop and implement agreed internal controls systems and procedures and solutions.
- Manage and nurture good industrial relations to guarantee that company objectives are met and be properly informed on all key legislation relating to Labour Laws and Factory Works Act.
- Participates in operations budget planning and manage and controls the expenses relating to engineering &EHS department to minimise operational costs
What are we looking for?
- Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Processing Engineering
- At least 5 years engineering management experience in a manufacturing setup;
- Project Management experience represents an advantage
- Experience in managing a team
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing/problem solving tools as well as of SAP maintenance system will be considered as an added advantage
- Strong leadership and influencing skills, as well as stakeholders’ management capabilities
