WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
The accountabilities of individual Combustible Systems Spec Specialist roles may vary on workload allocation.
- Run the specs, recipes in terms of creation, modification in BAT online and offline systems (E.g.: SAP, Tao and ACD files
- Receives and records manages product, filters, leaf, materials and/or blend material code creation and extension request (E.g. for a product source of manufacture change)
- Ensure that Product Spec data added into BAT systems are complete and aligned to combustibles R&D standards & governance then seeks approval from LM to implement in the system.
- Manages and troubleshoots delivery of pilot plant, sample room, laboratory, and micro-blending activities - from raising word order request to retrieve samples and coordinating evaluation sessions - based on instruction from workstream owner.
- Generates reports, trackers and insights for internal strategy development & performance monitoring - drawing from Specs System or global commercial and competitor insights, product, leaf & blend quality, cost and performance trends, product sensorial performance data and factory quality metrics (E.g.: fill values).
- Able to prepare communication material for engagement with collaborators across Combustible R&D and Operations..
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Data Scientist, scientific or tobacco or agronomic specific degree is preferable.
- Minimal 1-3 years of working experience in the similar field.
- Having tobacco proven experience is advantageous.
- Good level of proficiency in managing and reporting large data sets across common platforms (eg: excel, power BI, data lakes, SAP, etc.) – able to own, generate and maintain tools used by the team to report and forecast strategic scenarios to >90% confidence in data (leaf & blend costs, volume, and complexity)
- Consistent track record of successful project management is advantageous.
- Cultivates strong working relationships with key collaborators in operations (Manufacturing, GLP, Quality, Product Development, Technical Shared Services, Finance & Supply Chain, Combustibles R&D Team)
- Manages self with ability to create timelines and breakthroughs for assigned work packages, influencing others to deliver committed actions and advancing in a timely manner when necessary.
- High ambition to develop eye for business and grow in terms of managerial accountability.
- Pro-active & enthusiastic ambition to develop expertise in tobacco (from seed to smoke) across types, markets, qualities and including interaction of blend designs with casings, flavors and cigarette specifications.
