Pakistan Tobacco Company has an exciting opportunity for a Field Officer in Swabi
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Procurement of seed from Leaf Agronomy as per the requirement and onward distribution to farmers.
- Farmers’ registration as well as arrangement for seed sowing.
- Periodic arrangement of growers’ meetings/workshops in your area for conveying the company’s message regarding the quality requirements & education of growers.
- Ensure plantation of a suitable crop size in your area of jurisdiction, enabling the buying team to secure volumes as per company targets.
- Timely finalization of seedbed, crop & yield assessment surveys to enable management in getting to a real crop size.
- Ensure all the sustainability initiatives including FSM are completed as per expectation & timelines.
- Offer crop extension services to contracted growers for crop improvement, safe use of agrochemicals, implementation of standard methodologies, and improved curing techniques.
- Take guidelines from in-charge wherever it is necessary to improve knowledge about crop husbandry practices & then implement them at the farmer’s level.
- Afforestation initiatives including nursery raising, distribution of saplings, and ensuring their planting as per recommendations.
- Selection of better species and training of planting parties about post-planting care to ensure maximum survival.
- Conduct post plantation surveys and maintain record keeping in a PC-based database.
What are we looking for?
- Agriculture Graduate with 1 - 2 years of experience.
- In-depth knowledge about tobacco production, curing & grading.
- Proficient IT skills, particularly in MS Office.
- Creative methods in agricultural extension.
- Experience in arranging plantations and supervising research trials.
- Introduction of Standard methodologies through method/result demonstration.
- Proficient in seedbed, plantation, and production surveys.
- Understanding and implementation of Environment, Health & Safety policies.
- Fair knowledge of company’s job-related controls procedures and instructions.
- Awareness of competition strengths & weaknesses.
- Strong interpersonal skills for communication, negotiation, training/mentoring, and motivation.
- High level of job dedication & willingness to remain in the field.
- Boldness to take initiatives.
