We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Market Insights & BI Manager to join our dynamic and diverse team in Tokyo.
As the Market Insights & BI Manager, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the company’s transformation journey, with a key focus on enabling multi-category expansion through data-driven decision making within the Japan nicotine market. This role will uncover actionable insights from market trends, sales performance, and competitive activity to inform strategic priorities and optimize performance across organisation. The ideal candidate is adept at turning complex data into clear, compelling business recommendations that drive growth and innovation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the delivery of market performance tracking and timely business performance updates
- Lead consolidation of competitor intelligence, activity reporting and contextualisation
- Conduct ad hoc analysis and generate insights that guide commercial and strategic decision-making
- Translate data and research into compelling narratives and actionable recommendations
- Identify evolving business needs and build insight solutions using digital, sales, and consumer data
- Collaborate across teams to determine key business questions and define insight requirements
- Ensure that all relevant marketing information is available and up to date to meet company business needs and oversee maintenance of data sources
Essential experience, Skills and Knowledge
- Degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Business Administration, Economicsor related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role (market research, consumer insights, BI, or digital analytics)
- Proven experience in deriving insights from both qualitative and quantitative data
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to synthesize data from multiple sources
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills; able to present complex data in a compelling way
- Experience working in fast-paced, matrixed, or multinational environments
- Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Fluency in English and Japanese
Preferred Skills
- Experience in tobacco or consumer goodsindustry
- Familiarity with syndicated data (e.g., Nielsen, IQVIA, Euromonitor, Kantar)
- Familiarity with BI and visualization tools such as PowerBI, Power Query, Python
- Experience on both agency and/or client side
