British American Tobacco United Kingdom has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Corporate Finance Manager in London
The key responsibilities of the Corporate Finance Manager are to maintain and implement aspects of the group financing plans, to provide funding solutions to operating and holding companies across the group and to work closely with the Financial Risk Manager and the Treasury Operations team in Romania as well as other key stakeholder across the Group. The role will give the position holder extensive experience across a broad range of corporate finance issues. The incumbent will deputise for the Head of Corporate Finance in his/her absence. The corporate finance team consists of two people; the Head of Corporate Finance and the Corporate Finance Manager.
This is a role where the incumbent will ideally already have extensive Treasury experience. However, for the right individual with outstanding core skills, the experience can be developed on the job.
The Corporate Finance Manager will support the Head of Corporate Finance with all aspects of corporate finance work; this includes advising on and implementing funding requirements at a local, regional and centre level. In addition the Corporate Finance Manager will provide assistance with all treasury aspects related to: i) rating agencies, ii) M&A projects, iii) corporate restructuring projects, iv) debt issuance in the capital markets, v) syndicated and bilateral bank facilities, vi) shareholder returns and vii) debt investor relations. The Corporate Finance Manager will also have responsibility for maintaining and updating policies and practices covering inter alia the Financing Principles, WACC and investment appraisal. Within the wider scope, the Corporate Finance Manager will need to work closely with the Financial Risk Manager.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintain and implement aspects of the financing plan, as defined by the Head of Corporate Finance including the issuance of new debt (bank and bond), the restructuring of existing debt (both internal and external) and introduction of new funding techniques. Recommend key steps and actions to the Head of Corporate Finance
- Investigate and analyse structured and tax related financing mechanisms in support of the financing plan and Treasury vision. Recommend key steps and actions to the Head of Corporate Finance.
- Provide Treasury advice and support in relation to M&A projects. This will involve developing and implementing financing plans in relation to specific projects following authorisation to proceed with a minimum of supervision.
- Keep up to date at all times and provide advice to management on sources and availability of funds in debt capital markets including investor sentiment towards tobacco bonds particularly as far as it affects the group financing plan.
- Understand and consider in the financing plan the main financial risks e.g. FX and interest rates and develop appropriate solutions in conjunction with the Financial Risk manager.
- Provide analytical advice and support in relation to Rating Agency issues including structural subordination and ratio analysis.
- Take responsibility for maintaining and updating policies and practices covering inter alia the Financing Principles, WACC and investment appraisal.
What are we looking for?
- Ideally degree qualified with relevant commercial qualification (MCT/AMCT), ACA, CIMA, ACCA, MBA or equivalent).
- A strong understanding of the mechanics of debt issuance, both public and private, in major markets.
- Knowledge of loan and bond documentation including syndicated and bilateral facilities and Medium Term Notes and competence in the mechanics of negotiation in this arena.
- Willingness to develop and maintain an extensive network of bank contacts in the debt capital markets.
- The ability to understand complex capital and derivative structures quickly and accurately.
- Having an up to date knowledge of the condition of the debt, interest rate, and foreign currency markets and understand how they interact.
- Having an understanding of the key aspects of tax, accounting and treasury relating to the provision of financing within a group context.
- A core understanding of the impact of the relevant accounting standards and input accordingly to corporate finance decision making.
- Very strong analytical skills.
- Have outstanding spreadsheet skills.
