British American Tobacco United Kingdom has an exciting opportunity for a Customs & Excise Training Manager in London
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Support Customs & Excise Technical Standards Manager to set and maintain a highly robust framework of indirect tax standards, guidelines, policies, controls and procedures to enable delivery of customs and excise compliance across the Group.
- Deliver training to relevant stakeholders across functions impacted by indirect tax compliance and governance requirements. This will include maintenance and improvement of an existing, recurring training programme. As the regulatory and business environment evolves, this may also include performing market training needs analyses, preparing and updating training materials, preparing training schedules, establishing required audiences, reporting on attendance, and attending to queries from trainees.
- Maintain a Sharepoint site with a repository of training materials accessible to the global group.
- Provide customs and excise expert input into technical material, controls, policies, standard operating procedures, etc. prepared by other functions that cover customs- and excise-sensitive processes.
- Manage a framework of regular compliance attestations for those owning processes that are customs- and excise-sensitive.
What are we looking for?
- Excellent ability to read, understand and analyse technical material issued by tax authorities, courts, international organisations, and consultants;
- Excellent ability to distil technical material into simple, succinct summaries, analyses, explanations and instructions for senior leaders and junior process operators
- Minimum of three years’ work experience in the ‘big 4’ accounting firms, other equivalent multi-national organisations, and/or tax and other relevant regulators/authorities;
- Basic customs and excise technical and accounting knowledge;
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and supply chain environments;
- Basic understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems
