British American TobaccoUK has an exciting opportunity for a Product Development Technical Support in Southampton.
Supporting the global deployment and roll out of new and existing non-combustible products across markets in line with global commercial cycle plans. This is hands on execution role, requiring strong technical foundations in non-combustible consumables, working at the interface of R&D, Operations, Supply Chain and Factories to ensure the HP portfolio is optimized for each market.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Support the deployment, roll‑out, and early prototyping of new and existing products, ensuring accurate specification management throughout validation, compliance, and stewardship phases.
- Complete global and regional product launch (NPI) activities in line with established governance and technical processes, delivering against agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Maintain and continuously update product specifications in close collaboration with factories, Quality, Supply Chain, and regulatory collaborators, ensuring full confidentiality of technologies and compositions.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for assigned projects, enabling effective communication across global, cross‑functional teams and supporting issue investigation and resolution during deployment and post‑launch phases.
- Give to portfolio optimization and complexity reduction initiatives, including COGS reduction and standardization projects, while independently performing laboratory testing activities using technical expertise and equipment knowledge.
What are we looking for?
- Validated experience in product development, deployment, and technical execution within FMCG, consumer goods, or regulated environments, including exposure to non‑combustible consumable technologies, product specifications, manufacturing interactions, validation, PLM and NPI processes.
- Hands‑on experience operating in technical, laboratory, or manufacturing‑adjacent environments, with a strong understanding of safe ways of working and comfort with practical product development activities.
- Self‑motivated and proactive professional with strong time management, attention to detail, and a structured delivery approach, able to collaborate and communicate efficiently in cross‑functional, matrix teams while prioritising multiple workstreams to defined timelines.
- Degree‑qualified in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), or equivalent experience gained through a completed engineering technician apprenticeship and HNC‑level qualification.

The candidate should have a validated grasp of product development and deployment, including project management and validation processes. They should also be confident using digital, analytical, and AI-enabled tools like Microsoft Office and BI platforms to support delivery.
