This role is part of the Record to Report team for the US and leads the team ensuring timely closing of each period end in SAP in accordance with IFRS and/or US GAAP requirements.  With a thorough understanding of core controllership (R2R) processes, this role is responsible for the identification of areas for continuous improvement to drive productivity and strengthen the control environment across the R2R function.  The role will combine good accounting knowledge with communication skills and managerial capabilities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Manage the US Accounting team to deliver an efficient and effective recording, reconciling, and reporting of financial transactions within a robust control environment.
• Deliver on time and in full (OTIF) the day-to-day business operation, in line with the agreed Service Level Agreements. This includes the operation and review of all Sox/Non-Sox controls assigned to own team.
• Responsible to ensure all SOX / operational and internal controls.
• Actively build and develop good working relationships with key stakeholders.
• Actively search out areas for process improvement, identify the gaps in efficiency and effectiveness and recommend the actions. Provide support to continuous improvement projects.
• Coordinate and plan activities by using time efficiently. Prioritize and give visibility on the workload in each time – any coordination to distribute tasks within the team must be reviewed with your team leader.
• Exhibit leadership when engaging with key stakeholders through behaviours and attitudes which are in line with the BAT Standards of Business Conduct (SoBC) and BAT Values to support, encourage and drive a positive working culture.
• Managing Team Performance and Development and provide guidance and support.

What are we looking for?

• University degree (Accounting, Economic or Finance).
• 5+ years’ experience in a multinational company.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP. Knowledge of statutory and management accounting principles for the US is an advantage.
• Analytical skills withs strong accounting knowledge, ability to prepare Statutory, Management and other relevant reporting
• Bilingual (Spanish and English level 95%+)
• Must be flexible and adaptable to work with various levels of employees and leaders (up to and including executives).
• Must have proven ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• SAP knowledge is very desirable.
• CPA designation preferred.
