British American TobaccoDBS Malaysia has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Finance Assistant Manager in Subang Jaya

This role is part of GBS Corporate Finance Team with the primary responsibility to proactively support the delivery of Group Statutory & Management Reporting (actual financials) information and drive operational improvements. The core focus is working with the market to deliver robust and agile financial forecasting, reporting (Looking after Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet & Cash Flow) to deliver meaningful, comprehensive and insightful analysis in key business meetings to facilitate resource allocation and strategic decision. This role also supports ad-hoc financial insight and analysis of our quarterly target, cost base reviews, and treasury inputs.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Ensure timely month end close activities, statutory and management financial reporting are performed in compliance to SOx. Review and validate financial & management data handoff to highlight data integrity issues.
  • Point of contact for coordination, clarity and action with end markets BAT GBS and outside.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to local accounting team and supports Finance Controlling Manager.
  • Driving a comprehensive forecasting process, including being able to dynamically remodel scenarios as assumptions change. This involves engagement in collaborative effort across a number of functions, locations, and time zones. Supporting monthly planning (SOP) exercises.
  • Preparation of management & statutory accounts including ad-hoc tasks as assigned by Financial Controller.
  • Developing and build tools in process automation, utilising innovative technical and processing solutions and maintaining complete and accurate Task Level Descriptions ("TLDs") and ensure any documentation is complying to SOx.
  • Understanding functionality, interfaces, and interdependencies of the financial processes and systems to ensure the existence of adequate internal control.
  • Leading Master data housekeeping exercises and ensuring timely updates and completion as per the global / regional timelines.
  • Monitoring and taking imperative actions to improve key achievements and supporting a smooth and efficient quarterly close and commentary process.
  • Assisting in day to day activities related with Accounts Payable (PO creation, vendor payments & payment related queries and reporting) and Process Non PO invoices and vendor management.
  • Involved in cashflow forecasting, reporting and hedging exercise to ensure seamless business operations, investigating and responding to ad-hoc queries relating to financial performance, across P&L, BS, CF.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture, to release time and contribute resulting in improvements to financial results. This may involve use of data analytics, automation and robotics tools and collaborate with service lines to ensure efficient processing and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Compliance with Records Management Policies.
  • Support in operating internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting. This includes ensuring compliance to relevant SOX control requirements in the Planning and Reporting environment.
  • Support in external and internal audit engagements.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum 4 years of finance/accounting experience in global FMCG industry.
  • Possess high potential, strong technical and interpersonal skills. Good understanding of accounting principles (IFRS, GAAP etc)
  • Good command of English in verbal and written communication. Effective communication skills, mentor and leadership skills and extremely dedicated.
  • Ability to work with all levels within the organisation & experience in managing senior stakeholders.
  • Capable of analysing financial impact and providing insights to business strategies also understanding of strategy and financial management processes.
  • Able to demonstrate the need for, and ensure implementation of, appropriate systems and controls.
  • Able to drive projects and process improvements and handle a remote customer base model.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, and can work under pressure with minimum supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance, Knowledge in SAP and Professional accountancy qualification i.e. CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA will be an added advantage.
