ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
Reports to - RAI Assistant Controller
Number of Direct Reports – 0
Core Relationships
Internal – Strong relationship required with Global Category Head (based in Globe House)
- Managers in business functions that support the Category (esp. R&D, SP&I & Legal)
- Group Finance Services Providers: Central Finance, Tax and Treasury
- Regional / End Market Finance teams
- Financial control – collaborate to provide end to end finance delivery
External –
- Portfolio Companies
- Professional services providers (e.g. consultants, auditors).
Geographic Scope - Global
Travel Required - Approximately 5% (International and Domestic travel)
WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
Manage and co-ordinates activities to:
- Support the month-end and year-end close process and lead the preparation of accurate and complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the BDI (US13) legal entity pursuant to inter-company services agreement(s) that may be in effect. Responsible for analysing financial data to identify trends, forecast future performance, and advice the Financial Director and the Global Category Head (and other key and relevant stakeholders as deem required) on financial planning and policy decisions.
- Lead the budgeting process, including the development of the annual budget (in close coordination with the Financial Director). Monitor budget variances, lead monthly budget review meetings and provide financial forecasts to guide business decisions. And, were needed, support the Category Head with presentation materials required to engage senior and business stakeholders.
- Manage the entity’s cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs, while optimizing the allocation of financial resources.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards, including GAAP and IFRS.
- Partner with other corporate and business functions, such as Tax, HR, Legal, and Treasury to ensure compliance with specific laws and regulations (i.e., Tax and Legal regulations) and timely and complete flow of useful and relevant financial information. Assist with special projects as needed.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits. Identify financial risks and implement risk management strategies.
- Evaluate and improve financial systems and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy. Implement innovative technologies to support financial operations, financial reporting and annual valuation requirements.
- Maintain open communication and strong collaboration with the rest of the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Lead the research. valuations, and application of the appropriate accounting treatment on complex business and financial transactions, such as equity and debt investments, applicable to our BDI entity.
- Support the Finance Director with all ad-hoc requirements including preparation of financial content for the various Boards, business cases, etc.
- Work in close partnership with the Category Head, to ensure the financial processes support the needs of the business in a timely and efficient way.
- Provide robust and timely financial and accounting support to the business.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) is highly preferred.
- Proven track record of success within an operational finance role/
- Adaptability to change and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, where stakeholders exist in multiple time zones.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards. Experience with IFRS preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills: self-motivated, desire for self-development and ability to influence.
- Insightful, comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, pro-active, collaborative, and willing to implement new processes / ways of working.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail.
- Experience in strategic analysis & planning and execution, performance metrics, project evaluation and commercial acumen.
- Ability to simplify complex situations and synthesize and present complex information.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience working in a matrix environment within a global team structure.
BENEFICIAL
- Knowledge of SAP/HFM/BI/BPC/S4Hana an advantage.
- Experience with complex modeling (forecasting, business and investment valuations, etc.)
