British American Tobacco Germanyhas an exciting opportunity for an External Engagement Manager (m/f/d) in Hamburg!

ROLE SUMMARY

As an External Engagement Manager, you will support Germany's regulatory engagement strategy across product, excise, and sustainability topics. You will monitor regulatory developments, provide actionable insights, manage selected regulatory topics, and help ensure the business remains prepared for regulatory change. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will contribute to advocacy efforts, support compliance, and help protect market access.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor and analyse German and EU regulatory developments and communicate business impacts.
  • Support regulatory engagement and advocacy activities with regulators, policymakers, and industry associations.
  • Manage assigned regulatory topics and coordinate cross-functional input.
  • Prepare clear and evidence-based regulatory submissions, briefings, and consultation responses.
  • Support business readiness for upcoming regulatory changes.
  • Track legislative developments, risks, opportunities, and key regulatory timelines.
  • Build strong relationships with external stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Maintain accurate regulatory records and support compliance activities.

What are we looking for?

  • 4–6 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, Public Policy, External Affairs, or a similar role within a regulated industry.
  • Experience analysing regulations, policy developments, or scientific information.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional projects and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex information into business recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Degree in Public Policy, Law, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, Chemistry, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
