Role Positioning and Objectives

This Role is a centralized resource to drive the quality performance and compliance for SMDJV, Vietnam. The role is hands-on and factory-facing, with involvement in product specifications, laboratory operations, equipment calibration, product trials, and quality system deployment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Product Specification & Master Data Management

• Coordinate closely with RPC and relevant stakeholders to issue and update product specifications for the production floor
• Work with the Master Data team to ensure accurate maintenance of material data and alignment with Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Ensure synchronization, specification updates and master data changes are completed OTIF (On Time In Full)

BOM (Bill of Materials) Management

• Manage BOM synchronization, execute manual changes, changes and updates related to materials

Quality Equipment Management

• Ensure quality testing and inspection equipment are maintained in optimal condition with minimal downtime
• Coordinate and follow up on periodic equipment calibration (internal and external).

Innovation & New Product Introduction (NPI)

• Ensure quality compliance for NPI and product innovation projects.
• Improve turnaround time for sample testing and laboratory analysis to support timely decision-making.
• Conduct incoming material checks for trial runs.
• Manage trial runs on the production floor and prepare reports.
• Ensure PQI samples are collected, tested, and reported OTIF.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of quality results.

Product Registration & Barcode Management

• Prepare documentation for new product registration and re-registration.

IWS Deployment

• Act as the owner of QBOS DMS
• Support Line Manager and Pillar Leader in deploying Quality Pillar initiatives/programs within the factory.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

• Build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams (PMD, Product Specification Management team, Finance, Legal) to support effective quality management across the factory.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external suppliers (Quality equipment suppliers, pest service)
• Proactively raise alarms and flag out issues when quality risks, deviations, or anomalies are identified.
• Self-development development by undertaking a capability gap analysis (leadership & functional competency) then pro-actively drive development plan to ensure the skill and knowledge levels are met expectations
• Facilitate discussions with relevant parties to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Work closely with the QA Manager and Product Analysts to plan and manage experiments and improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with Product Maintenance, Process, and Planning teams on new product trials and process modifications.

What are we looking for?

• Degree or diploma in science or technical background (e.g. Chemistry, Physics, Engineering)
• At least 3 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing quality role
• Be able to communicate well in English & Vietnamese both verbally & in writing
• Possess presentation skills to deliver training & make presentations
• Good interpersonal skills to build collaborative working relationship with internal and external parties
• Possess intermediate IT skill: MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, SPC Tools, e-ISO documentation system.
• Experience in quality assurance system, ISO 17025, ISO 9000, TQM and operation excellences.
• Possess analytical skills in interpreting quality data

Beneficial

• Able to develop and deliver basic quality and hygiene-related training (e.g.: infestation awareness, 5S training)
• Knowledgeable with SAP systems
• Familiar with filter rode, cigarette making and packing operations
• Knowledgeable of infestation control, pest & hygiene management, product integrity and traceability
