British American TobaccoPapua New Guinea has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Officer in Madang, Papua New Guinea
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Perform daily quality checks, inspections, and data entry in line with Global Quality Standards, QMS requirements, and VISTA inspections, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to relevant stakeholders.
- Calibrate designated laboratory equipment at required intervals and support laboratory operations with strong compliance to Environmental Health & Safety practices.
- Monitor quality performance across Operations, identify issues early, and collaborate with QA Leads to address non‑conformances, infestation risks, and process gaps.
- Audit processes, verify product specifications, and support investigations for customer feedback, incoming materials, and non‑conforming products to maintain product integrity.
- Contribute to quality initiatives, NPI projects, and continuous improvement activities while promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, change readiness, and strong compliance standards.
- Work closely with fellow quality personnel and operational teams, supporting quality education, fostering positive working relationships, and ensuring all QA reports are delivered On Time In Full.
What are we looking for?
- Diploma or degree in Science, Quality Management, Manufacturing, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field, with experience in quality control, quality assurance, or a production environment.
- Solid understanding of GMP, QMS, hygiene standards, and quality processes used in regulated or fast‑moving consumer goods industries.
- Comfortable using digital tools, including Microsoft Office and reporting systems, to manage data and support daily quality activities.
- Strong attention to detail supported by analytical thinking, problem‑solving ability, and confidence in root‑cause investigation.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively, with clear communication skills for reporting, teamwork, and cross‑functional support.
- Thrives in a fast‑paced, compliance‑driven environment, with bonus points for experience in FMCG, tobacco, beverage industries, or familiarity with ISO standards.
