External Communications Intern

This role is part of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs (CORA) based in Rome and is a great opportunity to learn and get fully involved in a multi-cultural, open environment. 
This internship is a structured learning experience that combine in-class theory with real-world applications, while being supported by an experienced team of professionals. 
As a Corporate External Communication Intern you will have the opportunity to work on strategic topics as well as operational tasks right from the beginning and be part of a dynamic team contributing to the business results. 
Be part of shaping, protecting and enhancing BAT Italy’s regulatory and corporate position by building shared value with society and positioning BAT as a trusted thought leader for today and in the future. And also, be part of driving dynamic and engaging internal communications to connect, empower and energize.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

• Support the Corporate Communications team in the daily media monitoring and press review process, including tracking key industry, business, regulatory and reputational developments.
• Assist in the management of corporate social media channels, content planning, monitoring and reporting activities.
• Liaise with external communication agencies and support the coordination of communication projects and campaigns.
• Contribute to the preparation of communication materials, including presentations, speeches, briefing notes, internal communications and stakeholder engagement materials.
• Support media relations activities, research projects and communication initiatives across corporate, sustainability and business topics.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE 

• Bachelor’s degree in communication or a related field. 
• Naturally digital & able to professionally interact with tools such as Microsoft O365.
• Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus
• Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to balance a variety of detailed tasks and work efficiently under deadlines.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and desire to build rapport with multiple teams and stakeholders
• Excellent attention to detail and a high motivation to learn
• Positive attitude and desire to work collaboratively with a team
• A commitment to the aims and values of BAT
• Fluency in Italian and English language
