British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Blender in Southampton
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?
To lead relevant HP Blend and Consumable project management activities, Product stewardship for blends and consumable development support required for their assigned responsibilities. Blenders will also interpret global data and propose opportunities for standards and guidelines, complexity reduction workstreams, global tobacco utilization as well as corrective actions to maintain compliance to blend toxicant limits.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supports the end-to-end Blend development and broader project managements activities for the assigned responsibilities/ Cycle Plan projects/specific HP consumables project workstreams & Tech Blocks under the HP Consumables team accountability
- Supports the Senior Blenders in handling operational projects enabling the delivery OTIF, as well as Blend recipes update in GLOSS and TAO spec creation for new blends launches.
- Analyses portfolio of Global Blends assigned and proposes opportunities for transfer of success, seeking alignments and complexity management while remaining complaint to Toxicant limits and broader product claims.
- Handles the Implementation of new and modified Blends with New Categories Product Deploy through clear Performance Specifications & Guidelines.
- Supports the Senior Blenders in ensuring compliance to the regulatory/stewardship requirements for new to world developments.
- Handles the accurate update of systems (TaO, Gloss) for assigned blends/ categories.
- Handles quality and consistency of HP Blend specifications through supervising monthly Analytical/Toxicological results throughout the defined supply chain (Leaf to emissions), and propose corrective actions where required.
- Handles Operational studies & trials to support processing changes in PMD /SMD facilitating improvements in efficiencies, wastage, or product sensorial benefits.
What are we looking for?
Experience Required
- Proven experience within FMC/HP Blending, Product Design and Product specification data management, project management, Leaf and/or Operations
- Product Experience in understanding markets/consumers and translating into technical solutions.
- Understanding of manufacturing and Quality processes (PMD/SMD/Leaf) and the interface with product design.
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
- Good understanding of Leaf and Blending
- Solid data and project management skills
- Strong leadership skills demonstrated through effective engagement, communication and ability to work cross-functionally in a Global network.
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required
- Ideally Bachelor or Engineering in Chemistry, Food Technology, Agronomy

- Understanding of Tob Reg toxicants in tobacco or generated in tobacco products.
