BAT BANGLADESHIS LOOKING FOR A COMPLIANCE ANALYST

SENIORITY LEVEL: Entry-Level

FUNCTION: Finance

LOCATION: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Reports to: Corporate Tax Manager  

ROLE POSITIONING & OBJECTIVES

The role is part of the BAT Bangladesh Corporate Finance team and reports to the Corporate Tax Manager. The primary responsibility of the role is to ensure tax related (direct and indirect) compliance with tax-VAT laws, regulations, internal polices, and identifying areas of improvement in related processes. The role is also required to establish process of work (SOP), documentation, for risk minimization at any audit stage from external authority.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT:

  1. Compliance Assurance:
  • Ensuring that the organization adheres to local tax & VAT regulations such as timely submission of returns, statements, reports, etc.
  • Verifying the accuracy of tax and VAT filings and payments.
  • Identifying potential non-compliances issues.  

  1. Tax (Direct & Indirect) Auditing:
  • Conducting audit for tax records, transactions and systems to assess tax related risk and compliance.
  • Reviewing tax returns, supporting documentation and accounting system for accuracy and completeness. 
  • Investigating irregularities or discrepancies in returns, process and filings including internal books and records.

  1. Risk Management:
  • Identifying and planning for mitigation of tax risks within the company.
  • Advising on strategies to minimize tax liabilities without breaching compliances.

  1. Process Improvement & Risk Management:
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls related to tax compliances and reporting.
  • Recommending enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy in the tax process.
  • Developing and updating internal policies and procedures to strengthen tax compliance frameworks.
  • Identifying and mitigating tax risks within the company.

  1. Reporting and Documentation:
  • Preparing detailed audit reports and presenting findings to the Corporate Tax Manager/Management.
  • Documenting audit process, findings and recommendations for future reference.
  • Supporting the tax team and external auditors or tax authorities during any external tax audits.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

  1. Managing Team:
  • Extends cooperation to tax and cross functional team members for continuous improvement of deliverables, values and results.
  • Ensure appropriate level of knowledge transfer for team members.

  1. Business Partnering:
  • Identify, assess, and where appropriate, implement efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure compliance and business needs through proactive involvement and interaction.
  • Manage the contractual resources and ensure business deliverables on time.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Business graduate with at least 5 years of experience as an internal auditor of any MNC/Group of Companies-Manufacturing
  • Expert knowledge in Tax-VAT Act/Rules/regulation.
  • Added knowledge and experience in finance/accounting/SAP/audit is required.
  • Possess strong auditing, analytical, technical, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Good communications skills with ability to explain and defend issues with respect to key decisions.
  • Ability to establish priorities of key deliverables.
