BAT’s Digital Business Solutions KL Hub has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Assistant Manager in Selangor, Malaysia.
The Payroll Assistant Manager ensures compliance with government regulations, financial governance, and internal policies related to payroll and payment processes. This role oversees payroll execution, tax filings, audits, and internal controls while driving process improvements, automation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing, tax filings, and regulatory reporting for BATM, GSD, and ASPAC.
- Develop, implement, and maintain payroll and payment policies, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Validate payroll reports and employee data feeds, ensuring accuracy before final approval.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, auditors, vendors, and payroll service providers.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely responses and adherence to compliance standards.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and efficiency enhancements in payroll and payment workflows.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of payroll, general ledger postings, tax payments, and other financial processes.
- Investigate and resolve payroll and payment discrepancies, implementing corrective actions where needed.
- Supervise and mentor team members, providing guidance and performance evaluation.
- Assist in payroll vendor contract renewals and support management reporting on payroll-related data.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's degree in a related in Human Resources, Business Administration or an equivalent field.
- 5-8 years in payroll-related roles, with a strong understanding of compliance and financial governance.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with payroll systems and automation is a plus.
- Strong ability to engage with internal clients, business users, and external stakeholders effectively.
- High accuracy in payroll processing, reconciliation, and compliance-related tasks.
- Ability to troubleshoot payroll and payment issues efficiently.
- Capable of prioritizing tasks, managing workloads, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates professionalism in handling sensitive payroll and employee data.
- Process improvement-oriented, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and development.
