British American Tobacco Romania has an exciting opportunity for an Accountant in Bucharest.
The objective of this role is responsible with the communication with the Tax Authorities regarding all information requested related to customers, tracking vendors seizure decisions on balances communicated by Fiscal Authorities, maintaining fixed assets ledgers in accordance with country’s regulatory requirements, monitoring the ageing of accounts balances and insure are compliant with BAT requirements but also preparing and record all payroll related journals, based on the monthly payroll reports received from HR.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1.Manage and process all activities and associated responsibilities related to fixed asset accounting in compliance with local regulation:
- Input all fixed asset additions, transfers and retirements ensuring they are appropriately accounted for.
- Maintain statutory fixed asset ledgers in accordance with country’s regulatory requirements.
- Reconcile fixed asset subsidiary ledgers to the GL and trial balance monthly; resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner and communicate the required correction to GBS
- Prepares the asset’s disposals decisions and obtain approval as per Delegation of Authorities (presents both the financial and fiscal impact)
- Support annually fixed assets inventory
- Provide audit files as requested and resolve audit issues identified.
2. Manage and process activities associated with payroll accounts:
- Prepares and record all payroll related journals, based on the monthly payroll reports received from HR.
- Reconcile payroll reports to the GL and trial balance monthly and prepares statutory payroll balance sheets notes.
3. Manage all activities related to open bank allocation items.
4. Maintain evidence of all Fiscal Authorities official communication related to BAT vendors through which BAT is sent the establishment of garnishments on the accounts.
- Notify GBS payment’s department about this measure and request the payment of the invoices to the account of the Bank or the state treasury, until the notification of the lifting of the seizure.
5. Prepares and submit all statistics reports requested by National Bank and National Institute of Statistics.
What are we looking for?
Experience Required:
- University degree, preferably accounting studies graduate; Master’ s degree is considered a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in relevant finance positions – statutory accounting and taxation;
- Fluent in English and Romanian (both spoken and written).
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required:
- Excellent spreadsheet and general computer skills.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines.
- Experience with SAP system is a plus.
