ROLE SUMMARY
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?
The Sustainability Data Analyst is responsible for the execution of the development, integration, and continuous improvement of BAT’s sustainability digitalization agenda. The role manages data-driven initiatives that enable accurate ESG reporting, actionable insights, and effective decision-making across the operations function specifically:
- Executing the integration of third-party system across operations (S1, S2, S3, Water, Waste, and Circular Economy).
- Coordinating cross-functional stakeholders to embed data quality, analytics, and insights into operational and disclosure processes.
- Driving continuous improvement in data governance, reporting efficiency, and decision-making capabilities.
- Supporting the alignment of sustainability data systems with regulatory and voluntary disclosure requirements.

By managing digitalization activities, the role ensures high-quality, reliable sustainability data and reporting that directly supports BAT’s external disclosures, internal decision-making, and achievement of sustainability targets. ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Supports the integration and ongoing operation of BAT’s digital sustainability tools
- Drives and supports third-party product developments through requirements gathering, documentation, Unit Test, and User Acceptance Test.
- Supports the design of interim analytics e.g. models, dashboards, interim Excel tools to bridge system gaps and accelerate insights and analytics.
- Coordinate improvements in data lineage, definitions, and documentation to strengthen governance and auditability.
- Drive business insights extraction from the third-party system sustainability data (S1, S2,S2,Water, Waste, and Circular Economy)
- Suports continuous improvement activities with stakeholders to identify inefficiencies and map optimal processes.
- Build internal digital literacy and ESG data knowledge through training and knowledge-sharing.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
ESSENTIAL
Experience Required
- Proven experience in sustainability data management, analytics, or digitalization within a corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of systems operations in a business environment (ERP, CRM, ESG platforms).
- Demonstrated ability to manage large datasets, ensuring quality, integrity, and consistency.
- Working knowledge of data visualization and dashboard tools.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders to translate technical outputs into business-relevant insights.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
- Basic knowledge of environmental reporting frameworks e.g. Green House Gas Protocol, Global Reporting Initiative, CDP, DEFRA, EIA, etc.
- Ability to lead cross-functional digitalization initiatives.
- Strong data analytics and digital process optimization skills.
- Proficiency in Excel data visualization and dashboards. Basic knowledge of SQL and Python are desirable.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to coordinate across functions and geographies.
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required
- Relevant business qualification – Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Sustainability Analytics
- Membership or qualification of any professional environmental body would be an advantage
