British American Tobacco Mexico has an exciting opportunity for a Data Scientist in Monterrey
The Data Scientist in D&A Mexico will design, develop, and deploy Data Science solutions into production environments to support US market priorities. The role combines strong technical expertise with business acumen to translate complex problems into scalable, pragmatic solutions that deliver measurable impact. This position requires analytical excellence, structured problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate effectively across a diverse, global team. The candidate is expected to support multiple initiatives simultaneously, while contributing to innovation, governance, and continuous improvement across Data Science operations.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Support 1 to 3 projects at a given time, ensuring timely delivery and quality of outputs.
- Develop and optimize advanced analytics models using Python and SQL in Databricks and Azure environments.
- Apply statistical analysis, machine learning methods, and modern data practices to solve business-relevant problems.
- Document processes, standards, and outputs to ensure reproducibility, compliance, and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align on requirements, validate outcomes, and ensure adoption of solutions.
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and governance compliance of all deployed models.
- Buddy with junior team members to help them ramp-up into the organization and develop their technical and analytical skills.
What are we looking for?
- Graduate in Engineering / Statistics / Economics / Maths / Analytics
- 2–3 years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with Databricks, Azure, and Git for code management
- Solid knowledge of mathematics, linear algebra, and statistics
- Experience deploying and maintaining models in production environments
- Excellent data visualization and storytelling skills to communicate insights clearly
- Ability to deliver in a dynamic environment as part of a global multi-functional project team while securing support from other parts of the organization diplomatically
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and quality
