British American TobaccoMexico has an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer in Monterrey
This role is part of DBS Function in Mexico that supports the Canada Marketing – Insights & Foresights BI team agenda.The position is responsible for working with a group of diverse and highly skilled team in Monterrey as part of a DBS Hub in Mexico working closely with the Insights and Foresights Business intelligence team in Canada, this role will combine technical expertise with business understanding to provide data driven solutions supporting the Canadian business unit to take better decisions providing objective, timely and relevant solutions/analysis.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Design and implement scalable ETL pipelines to automate POS and VAPS processes, ensuring accurate and timely performance tracking across the organization.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to validate data, resolve gaps, and deploy ETL solutions for ad-hoc data science projects and advanced analytics initiatives.
- Develop and maintain data management architecture to support digital trade applications and enable efficient integration of new data sources across channels and categories.
- Drive advanced analytics and machine learning projects (e.g., event-based simulations, geospatial analytics) in partnership with Data & Analytics CoE and internal data science teams.
- Lead innovation in data science practices, establishing best practices for tools and technologies, and contributing to the roadmap for scalable insights generation and performance optimization.
What are we looking for?
- 2–5 years of experience in a similar corporate role with a proven track record of delivering business results and analyzing sales performance data across multiple sources and metrics.
- Hands-on experience with Python (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn) and familiarity with the Anaconda suite for data analysis and visualization.
- Proficiency in cloud and big data tools, such as Azure Databricks or Microsoft fabric, Spark, PySpark, and SQL, or equivalent technologies on other stacks.
- Expertise in data visualization and reporting tools, including Power BI and MicroStrategy, for creating dashboards and self-service reporting solutions.
- Strong foundation in mathematics and statistics, with an understanding of AI and machine learning models to support advanced analytics projects.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of overcoming technical limitations and delivering actionable insights.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams, learn quickly, and manage multiple priorities in an Agile environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Analytics, or a related field, with advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
