British American Tobacco Bangladesh has an exciting opportunity for an Agronomy & Technology Deployment Manager
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading leaf agronomy, technology deployment, and farmer sustainability programs to ensure product superiority at competitive cost.
- Planning and implementing best agronomic practices to produce high-quality crops aligned with product strategy and ESG targets.
- Administering initiatives to mitigate risks from agrochemicals, toxicants, heavy metals, and diseases.
- Promoting crop sustainability through stakeholder engagement and timely supply of quality inputs.
- Providing technical guidance on Integrated Farm Management (IFM), Integrated Pest Management (IPM), CPA use, residue management, and climate-smart practices.
- Facilitating technology adoption to improve yield, reduce cost of production, and enhance leaf quality.
- Embedding global seed sourcing policies and developing varietal portfolios suited to local conditions.
- Engaging with R&D bodies, universities, and agricultural institutions to adapt innovations and ensure access to quality farm inputs.
- Monitoring agrochemical markets and coordinating with authorities to restrict banned substances.
- Updating trial data and sharing insights with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
- Building and developing a technically strong leaf team through training and exposure to global best practices.
- Leading carbon and climate initiatives including emission surveys and sustainable fertilizer sourcing.
What are we looking for?
- A graduate in Natural Sciences with 3+ years of experience in agriculture or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of crop production, agriculture extension, leaf purchase systems, and financial implications.
- Knowledge of domestic and international tobacco trade and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience managing agricultural operations and inputs (fertilizers, pesticides, pest/disease control).
- High interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Analytical ability to interpret trends and market dynamics.
- Proven skills in budgeting, resource planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strategic thinking, innovation, and effective decision-making capabilities.
- Strong public relations and negotiation skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to forecast, resolve problems, and lead in changing geopolitical contexts.
