British American Tobacco Papua New Guinea has an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Technician in Madang
Role Purpose & Objectives
To provide technical expertise and maintenance support across production machinery and electronic systems to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe operation of manufacturing equipment. The Electronics Technician will maintain, troubleshoot, and improve electronic and automation systems while driving continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence.

REPORTS TO                    : Electrical Team Leader
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintain and troubleshoot electronic, electrical, and control systems to ensure optimal machine uptime and compliance with technical standards.
 - Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities in line with maintenance schedules and accurately record all interventions.
 - Support new equipment installation, upgrades, and modifications to enhance production performance and reliability.
 - Ensure compliance with EHS and machine safety standards, promoting a safety-first culture and maintaining excellent housekeeping (5S).
 - Monitor and reduce material waste and process losses, contributing to continuous improvement and cost efficiency targets.
 - Drive process improvement and reliability initiatives, identifying and addressing root causes of downtime to realize improvements in processing, production, and material flow.
 - Coach and support production operators in developing technical and troubleshooting skills to strengthen team capability.
 - Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Supply teams to resolve technical issues and meet daily production targets.
 
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's/Diploma/Tradesman Certificate in Mechanical or related engineering field 
 - Minimum with 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
 - Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, IWS principles or similar methodologies
 - Proven ability to drive cultural change
 - Proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint for OPL & Work Instructions
 - Problem-solving skills (5Whys, 6W2H) and familiarity with factory standards like 5S, EHS, & Good Manufacturing Practices
 - Effective communication and interpersonal skills with all staff levels
