British American Tobacco Poland has an exciting opportunity for a Tax Executive in Warsaw!
We are seeking a Tax Executive to handle the company’s VAT and excise tax compliance and reporting duties. You will prepare, review, approve, and submit VAT and excise tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and providing technical support on indirect tax topics. You will also support tax planning and audit activities, collaborate with internal partners and external advisors, and coordinate the day-to-day distribution of tasks within the tax team.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Prepare, review, sign, and submit accurate and timely VAT and excise tax returns according to relevant legislation.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with indirect tax regulations across relevant jurisdictions, supervising legislative changes and updating internal processes as required.
- Handle VAT and excise tax calculations, keep precise documentation and records, and assist with compliance and reporting tasks.
- Provide technical advice on indirect tax matters, supporting business decisions and identifying potential risks and opportunities.
- Participate in the creation and application of tax planning initiatives to improve efficiency and minimise risks.
- Support tax audits, address tax authority enquiries, and assist in the resolution of tax disputes.
- Partner with Finance and other internal collaborators to ensure accurate tax accounting, reporting, and compliance with internal controls.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors and legal counsel on complex VAT, excise tax, and other indirect tax matters, while coordinating team activities to ensure timely delivery of key responsibilities.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in indirect tax management, preferably within a corporate environment or public accounting firm.
- Good knowledge of VAT and excise tax legislation and regulations, with proficiency in tax preparation software.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g. SAP) is considered an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders.
- Fluent in Polish and English, both written and spoken.
- Strong organisational skills, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively and build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and external advisors.
