BAT DUBAI IS LOOKING FOR SR. REGULATORY AFFAIRS MANAGER

FUNCTION: Corporate & Regulatory Affairs

LOCATION: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES.

The role drives a strategic approach to regulatory management across the Area, contributing to business objectives. It provides expertise on tobacco control and ensures alignment with the Region and Group on regulatory issues. The role directs engagement across APMEA West, ensuring business plans adapt to evolving regulations and help end markets gain a competitive advantage. It also acts as the focal point for regulatory developments, liaising with the Region on key issues.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Participate and contribute to the development and review of the overall planning and strategy of the Area and supported EMs.
  • Anticipate the direction and implications of regulatory developments and ensure the availability of complete regulatory solutions ahead of time, ensuring that end markets have the appropriate support for effective engagement.
  • Develop and provide proposed positions on key regulatory issues to the APMEA W CORA team, together with supporting argumentation to drive the quality of engagement.
  • Ensure APMEA W represents the region on regulatory issues and aligns with global regulations when possible. Use global findings to develop APMEA W's regulatory strategy.
  • Outline and ensure the provision of support and training to end markets to build regulatory capability.
  • Provide expert partner support to the business on regulatory issues, including presence during engagement if requested.
  • Provide updates on marketing regulation status to the Area Leadership Team, keeping senior management fully informed regarding key developments.
  • Consolidate area updates and represent EMs in regional and central update meetings.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Experience & Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Extensive expertise in CORA, with a focus on regulatory, legal, and political campaign management, or a mix of these areas.
  • Comprehensive and current knowledge of regulation, regulatory processes, and political affairs, including BAT standards.
  • Strong understanding of the tobacco industry’s political, social, and economic environment.
  • Ability to apply tobacco control knowledge to business development and regulatory challenges.

Strategic, Leadership & Engagement Skills:

  • Solid understanding of long-term planning and the capability to analyze the business from both a broad and detailed perspective.
  • Exceptional engagement and influencing skills, acting as a credible advocate of BAT interests.
  • Leadership skills in motivating and developing people, both internally and externally.
  • Deep cross-functional appreciation of the business across marketing, operations, CORA, finance, and legal.

Personal Attributes & Communication:

  • Creativity in finding new solutions to address regulatory challenges.
  • Attention to detail, commitment, and passion for success, especially in navigating regulatory hurdles.
  • Cultural awareness and appreciation of local business and regulatory environments.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Strong project management skills.
